Gelatone - Trattoria Pizzeria — Restaurant in Torroella de Montgrí

Incredible selection of pizza and pasta. I tried the 4 cheese pizza and WOW. Sometimes these extra cheesy pizzas are too strong or disproportionately cheese/dough but this was perfect. All the other pizzas that we ordered also looked great with a not too thin dough and great toppings. I also got to try the salmon pasta and that was really nice as well.

The ambiance and atmosphere was some of the best I have ever seen. The front of the restaurant looks out onto the sea with comfortable looking sofas and chairs. If you head inside, there are real, not plastic, plants/vines running up the wooden walls and it is surpringly open-feeling for being inside. There is also a tree growing in the middle and at night they have attached little lights to the plants making it look like millions of fireflies are fluttering around you. To be honest it feels like eating in the middle of a lush, green forest. Even the lights have woven lampshades as to not take away from the aesthetic.

Although we reserved outside terrace we were seated inside (which we didńt mind). 2 different menus presented, 1 was a wrong one, confusion at the table. 35 minutes waiting time for placing the order, other guests arriving later had already been served, 44 ​​minutes waiting time for drinks (we had to ask for them), 50 minutes waiting time for starters, salad in plastic bowl. Waiter walked past dishes that have been standing for a long time - looking at them(!) - and clears side tables that have only just been finished. Main course pizza 1:16 hours, pizza box for take away left overd is charged 40 cents. The 40 cents were waived due to the long waiting time, but voluntarily and without any complaints. We was afraid that we will not finish within the time frame of 2 hours stay that they announce with reservation confirmation. Sorry, that doesn't work at all ☹️ Still, nice communication and friendly approach - and: Pizza...

The food is good, we were coming last year and everything was good. This year and first time we tried to come back, we were calling for 1 hour to make a booking and the phone was picked up but no one answered so they let you wait for minutes and never respond. I decided to go to the restaurant to book in person and when i got there the guy in the door took the phone from his back pocket and hang up the phone that was on my call. So i realised that it wasn't a mistake, the guy was letting the phone wait. So i told him the situation and he told me "do you want to book? So book now, otherwise we dont have place for you tonight". You can imagine it wasnt in the most friendly way. So i wont come back and i would never recommend this...
