We recently dined at YAHO ALTA in Vera Playa, supposedly an Asian-fusion establishment, and the entire experience was a dreadful disappointment. Not one dish offered any real flavour; everything was both bland and absurdly expensive. We felt as though we were being charged simply for existing.
When we requested soy sauce and a bit of spice, they had the nerve to bill us 1.5 euros for a tiny teaspoon of soy and another 1.5 euros for a mere drizzle of chilli sauce. Both were almost tasteless. The starters were laughably small, and the main courses were no better. We were especially appalled by the 7.5 euro charge for a minuscule portion of rice, which was overcooked, clumpy, and frankly inedible.
The final outrage came with dessert. We decided to share a single portion, only to have a 4 euro surcharge slapped on the bill because, according to them, “there’s a fee for any shared plate.” Even a minuscule cup of tea cost 3.5 euros, and they added another 3.5 euros just to top up the same leaves with hot water.
On top of it all, the restaurant’s décor is entirely black—walls, furniture, everything—making the place feel dismal and oppressive. Service was nearly non-existent, adding to the overall unpleasantness. If you value decent food, reasonable prices, and an inviting atmosphere, avoid YAHO ALTA at all costs. We certainly won’t...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant on Saturday night after it had been recommended by friends and it turned out to be a great recommendation. Although the place was busy it is so spacious that you do not feel over crowded. There are several eating areas so if one of them is particularly noisy you can always move to another. We had the evening menu which gave you a choice of several starters, mains and puddings and included a drink, all for just under €16 per person. My wife chose Mongolian skewers, Korean spicy pork followed by lychees. I had the chicken skewer, chicken curry followed by strawberry ice cream. We shared each other’s meals and enjoyed all the dishes. The food was tasty, hot and well presented and the service was excellent. The staff were welcoming and were keen to ex-lain all the dishes. Our orders were taken by Julia who spoke excellent English and is a born sales woman. She was enthusiastic and knowledgable about her food and was keen to encourage us to call again. With extra drinks we ended up paying €45 which I think is a good price for a superb meal. We certainly will be calling in again and would recommend the restaurant to anyone interested in Taiwanese, Japanese or...
Read moreI was a bit apprehensive after reading some of the negative reviews on this site, but thought I'd give it a go and make my own mind up. Two of us booked for dinner, had a starter each and a main course each and fried rice. The service was excellent and the food arrived promptly and was freshly cooked and hot. All was very tasty. Portion size of the mains was adequate, the only criticism would be the portion size of the rice, we only ever order one rice as we don't have massive appetites and one restaurant portion is normally enough. This was not the case here as the rice was just enough for one. Didn't order another portion as it was quite pricey for the amount you received. That aside we would definitely eat there again as we enjoyed our meal and thought it was good value for...
