Chiringuito Los Veteranos — Restaurant in Vera

Our visit to Chiringuito Los Veteranos was an absolute disappointment. From the start, it was evident that this place lacks any standards of food quality or service, turning what should have been a pleasant beach meal into a nightmare.

Food: The food was inedible. What was supposed to be fresh seafood tasted stale and poorly prepared. Flavours were flat, textures unpleasant, and it was clear no care had gone into the dishes. Everything was badly cooked and left a bad taste.

Service: The service was atrocious. Staff were inattentive, untrained, and indifferent. Waiting times were absurdly long, and when the food arrived, it was lukewarm at best, showing a complete lack of care.

Hygiene: Hygiene was deplorable—sticky tables, unclean utensils, and an overall neglected atmosphere.

Conclusion: Chiringuito Los Veteranos was a disaster. Bad food, poor service, and unhygienic conditions make it a place to avoid at all costs. There are far better dining options...

I am currently sitting here waiting for my paella with my friend. We asked the waiter if there is any fresh squid in the paella and he said no just fried calamari. We said ok. Then a massive plate of calamari arrives and we ask him if we are supposed to add it ourselves to the paella as we only ordered paella and no starters. He says yes and the paella will be with you in 10 min. We thought it’s weird but started to eat per his instructions. Then we decided to ask him again if this really can be right because it’s an awful lot of food. He just throws up to fingers and doesn’t not listen to us. My friend then writes it on her phone and shows it to him. Then he takes the plates and goes to his colleagues and complains about us that we had eaten some….making it super uncomfortable to sit here and relax…..and who knows what the chef now will do to our food. Just want leave really but will...

Me gustaría ser benévolo, pero me cuesta. Fuimos a comer el sábado. Nos pillaba cerca y queríamos una paella. Vamos para reservar mesa, y encargamos una paella, para las 15:15h. Nos preguntan que de qué tipo. De marisco. Y ya nos fuimos. A la hora pedida acudimos, y después de diez minutos nos dan una mesa que faltaba por recoger. Sin pega. Nos sentamos, y hasta unos veinte minutos después, nadie se acerca, y nos piden nota. Aún no teníamos ni la mesa montada, ni tan siquiera la carta. Nos la traen. Comentamos que teníamos una paella y nos responden que hasta que no se toma nota no se ponen a ello. Los cual, nos llevó a empezar a comer la paella a las 16:15h. Una hora más tarde. Pedimos también una ensalada para dos, y tres panecillos (nos trajeron 4). hay que pedir las servilletas, porque no las traían. Todo ello motivado por el desorden generalizado. La paella la pedimos para tres, un chico es pequeño, y con la idea que hasta ahora había visto, de que siempre te ponen un puñado más de arroz, para que casi puedas repetir. Pues aquí no. Te ponen gambas, cigalas, mejillones para tres (es lo justo) y el arroz para tres, pero justito justito, pero además sin que puedas decir que es una paella de marisco, de sabor insulsa. La ensalada normalita. Para pedir café o postre tardaron nuevamente, por lo que decidimos no tomarlo allí. No se lo recomendaría a nadie de mi círculo, porque aunque el sitio es privilegiado y esta chulo junto a la playa, el servicio es desordenado y la atención...
