I made a reservation for Saturday night at El Túnel on a recent weekend in Xativa with my husband and we were so glad I did! We’d had a busy day exploring the town (including a strenuous trek through the castle on a hot day) so after cleaning up at our hotel, we enjoyed strolling through the town to the beautiful wooden door that was the entrance to this wonderful restaurant! From the moment we arrived, we were treated very well and at 2130, I was glad we’d booked ahead as it was a full house! The food was delicious, the pre dinner G&T refreshing and their wine list was extensive, and with pricing that suited all budgets. We had a wonderfully lazy evening grazing on several incredible tapas and a bottle of white wine and when we reluctantly left, we agreed El Túnel would be on our list for...

Fantastic. One of the best lunches we have had in Spain/anywhere. Lovely staff, interesting interior and exceptional food. We had the €18 lunch which included three tapas starters. Each plate was faultless. Interesting modern takes on traditional Spanish combination (for example tuna and almonds but with an orange flavoured humus or meltingly soft pork loin with sweet onions and olive tapenade). Main was a shared rice with cod and cauliflower and again was spot on. Puddings were included but were not the half hearted things you normally get in a dia menu. We had Baclava with yoghurt ice cream and a lemon creme with ginger biscuits and green tea ice...

Probably the best restaurant I've been to in my four years in Spain, the food was absolutely exceptional, really delicious and the arroz came in a big pan, perfect after a long day haciendo senderismo! Our waiter, Jose, made us very welcome despite being the first to arrive and attended to everything, he even convinced us to get to get two postres (good advice haha), thanks a lot to him. The place has a great atmosphere and ambience, the terraza interior in the back looks beautiful too. I'd recommend this place 101% and would...

I have just had the joy of eating at the Restaurante El Tunel. I followed the reccommendation of the waiter and can say that if you are able to taste better food in Xativa, I would be surprised. Fantastic food, superb service...an absolute pleasure. Great value...no wonder booking is required (though I was lucky). Make this a certain place to eat, and thankyou to the waiter who also helped this Englishman with his feeble attempts at Spanish.

Superb restaurant serving tapas and traditional regional food. We had the lunchtime menu of three tapas, an arroz, postre, and cafe. The tapas were a delightful combination of classic ingredients with novel contrasts of flavors. I've eaten in Michelin-starred restaurants which were not as good as this. The service was also excellent, and the converted interior of a building in the old town of Xativa is very attractive.
