Plaça del Mercat — Attraction in Xàtiva

We walked to Plaza at just before noon on Saturday and found all the restaurants and bars just starting to spring to life. It was quiet and a few were setting up the tables, chairs and umbrellas on the terraces for the lunch service. We were delighted to stop at 4 Roses (which was open) for a cool drink and just watch the world go by. We took a stroll to the indoor market and while small, it had some great local products and we wished we weren’t on foot without a car on this trip! Later that night, we walked back through the square and were astonished at how lively it was! There must have been 400 people at the plentiful restaurants and bars enjoying the evening and the happy buzz of happy people...

Beautiful square with great cafés and bars. During the day, this place is usually too hot but it comes alive at night. This is the place for acoustic music, great tapas and very reasonably-priced drinks. There's also a nice burger restaurant. During the day, on Tuesdays and Fridays, there's a busy little market with fruit and veg, vintage clothes, shoes, flowers, tools and all the usual...

Der historische Teil von Xativa ist schön, es gibt große Plätze und dort viele Bars und Restaurants. Eigentlich wäre es schön, durch diese engen, kleinen Gassen zu schlendern. Negativ Viele der kleinen Gassen werden auch von Autos benutzt, Manchmal gibt es einen sehr, sehr schmalen Bürgersteig, aber selbst dann muss man sich an die Hauswand lehnen, um sicher zu gehen, dass einen der Seitenspiegel nicht erwischt. Vielleicht hatten wir an dem Tag Pech, aber die meisten Autos sind schnell und wenig rücksichtsvoll gefahren. Das war sehr nervig. Daher konnten wir das Laufen durch den historischen Teil...
