Karlos Arguiñano Hotel Jatetxea — Restaurant in Zarautz

Whilst I cannot speak for the food. The service was appalling for us. Whilst this may not always be the experience, we admittedly without pre-booking, showed up and were told we would be waiting approximately 10 minutes for seating. We then got some lovely drinks from the bar and once we came out, we asked as to whether or not we had been called, we had not. From this point ~1 hour and 20 minutes, watching other groups be called and asking multiple times about our status (no they did not call us as everytime a name was called - which were never our own- a group went up). Normally this would be ok were this explained or even if they simply apologised but at no point did this happen. After the afformentioned time we, being rather frustrated, asked about it. We were then lied to and told our name had been called multiple times and when we referenced our wait time, were told "they all say that". I would like to apologise for the, albeit very mild, profanity uttered by one of my accomplices, reffering to the "c**p service". Whilst perhaps warranted it is never acceptable to insult a member of waitstaff or any professional. I would love to be able to comment on the food but we left 10 minutes after being seated after still not having being handed a menu. Whilst I recognise this may have been an abnormal occurrence, our experience of tonight was poor and I hope that it is not...

We were slightly nervous of our visit...the photos on google maps showed a skate park right in front of the hotel and there is one but if anything it adds to the feel of the place as being 'in the heart of things' especially with the attraction of it's ever-busy bar and terrace. Overall, the location is super with easy access to beach and centre of town. |The rooms are stylish and simply furnished in a traditional style but recently done. The bathrooms are modern and stylish. The housekeeping is impeccable and the rooms were kept spotless. |The bar offers delicious pintxos all day and the staff are helpful and patient and speak good English too. Despite the very busy flow of guests, the bar seemed to flow well and service was always efficient. It gave the hotel a lovely sense of 'bustle'. |The restaurant was fantastic. Beautiful views over the bay and sunset and well- balanced and delicious dishes. There was plenty to be satisfying and have room for dessert as well. We will definitely...
