A Hidden Gem by the Beach â Cool Vibes Beach House During our trip, we stumbled upon Cool Vibes Beach House purely by accident while looking for a place to have lunch. Nestled along the picturesque Dewatta Beach, right in front of the historic Closenberg Hotel, this place turned out to be an unforgettable find.
First Impressions & Ambience From the moment we entered, we could tell this wasnât an ordinary beachside restaurant. As a unique touch, guests are required to remove their shoes before stepping inside, with a designated area provided for footwear. This small detail immediately set a different, more relaxed tone for our experience.
The staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, greeting us with genuine smiles. The name "Cool Vibes" was no exaggerationâthe ambiance was exactly that! The restaurant featured a mix of seating arrangements: comfortable couches, bar stools, classic dining tables, and even beach swings, allowing visitors to unwind however they preferred. The open kitchen added to the charm, and the entire place had a soothing, inviting aroma that made us feel instantly at home.
To top it all off, the restaurant overlooks the beautiful Unawatuna Beach, providing a perfect coastal dining experience.
Diverse Menu with Something for Everyone One of the things we loved about Cool Vibes Beach House was the versatile menu. Whether you're in the mood for local Sri Lankan fusion dish, a healthy meal, or a European-style dish, thereâs something for everyone. The prices were reasonable, and the portion sizes were quite generous.
Our Order & Experience We decided to try a variety of dishes and drinks. Our order included:
Seafood rice Chicken noodles Tempura prawn platter
Three unique beverages: Tropica â a refreshing mix of king coconut, papaya, passion fruit, and a hint of cinnamon Cinnamon Soda â a light, tangy drink with a peppery aftertaste Dates Heaven â a creamy blend of yogurt, dates, chocolate, and other rich flavors The drinks arrived quickly, and each one was bursting with flavor. Tropica and Dates Heaven were quite rich and filling, while the Cinnamon Soda was a perfect, light contrast.
When the food arrived, it exceeded our expectations. The Tempura Prawn Platter stole the showâperfectly crispy jumbo prawns, served with a delicious tartar sauce. The seafood rice and chicken noodles were packed with flavor and loaded with generous portions of protein. Food was so good i couldn't even take a picture.
Relaxing After the Meal After our meal, we lingered for a while, relaxing on the swings and soaking in the peaceful beachside atmosphere. The place was so cozy and inviting that we honestly didnât want to leave!
Final Thoughts & Recommendation When the bill arrived, it totaled LKR 12,000/- for four people, which was extremely reasonable given the quality, portion sizes, and overall experience.
This place is a must-visit for anyone in the area. Cool Vibes Beach House is a true treasure, offering delicious food, a stunning atmosphere, and top-notch hospitality. Weâll definitely be coming back next time we're in the area!

Read moreCool vibes Beach House was a delight I accidentally came across in Galle that made me pay another more visit during my vacation. The place is easily accessible as it is in the Matara-Galle Main road. The place was very calm and serene and was perfect for a relaxing evening. The beachfront restaurant had tables arranged indoor, outdoor and even on the beach to suit any mood with a guaranteed view of the sea. The staff overall was very friendly and "Akalanka" deserves a special mentioning. He was very friendly and was diligent in his service looking into all our needs. The place has facilities for surfing and there was a good crowd for surfing on both the days I was there. They have a veriety of food and drinks on their menu; a match for any mood or time of the day. I can definitely recommend the place for anyone without any hesitation (be it solo, couple or with friends/ family) and it will definitely be my all time goto option in Galle for a relaxing time away from the...
Read moreThe restaurant has a fantastic location right by the sea, which makes it a great spot to sit and enjoy the view. However, the overall atmosphere felt a bit unwelcoming. It seemed like the place mainly caters to foreigners, and when we entered, the staffâs reaction suggested they were surprised we chose to dine there â almost as if they assumed we couldnât afford it. That first impression wasnât the best.
As expected in a tourist hotspot, the prices are on the higher side and clearly targeted toward international visitors.
Food Review:
Mango Lassi: 6.5/10 â refreshing but not outstanding.
Chicken Fried Rice: 8/10 â flavorful and well-prepared, probably the best dish we had.
Fried Calamari: 7/10 â decent, though not particularly memorable.
Overall: Beautiful seaside setting, but the service attitude could be more welcoming. Food is fairly good, though a bit overpriced for the area. Worth a visit if youâre mainly after the view and donât mind...
