Mintage Restaurant and Bar - Galle — Restaurant in Galle

Mintage is a very nice place with rooms to stay and a restaurant & bar. The rooms they started only 6 months before according to the staff but the restaurant has been there for more than a year and half. The place doesn't look that appealing from the outside but once you come into the rooms its so much better. The room is very comfy and spacious for two people. Comfy bed, couch, aircon, mini fridge, TV and the sea view is a lovely. The bathroom is also spacious, modern and clean, however the hot water can be a bit temperamental, think scalding hot. The TV is mostly local channels but you have to tell the staff and they fix you up with one English channel. The restaurant is really nice. One side is fully glass which looks to the sea and you can see fishing boats, yachts and fisher men on the shore. The food here is absolutely amazing. We stayed here for 5 days and loved it. The morning breakfast is not much but is really yummy with crumbled eggs, fruit platter, toast and tea. Their restaurant menu with Chinese and Lankan fusion is really nice. The food here is really amazing. The staff are really nice as well. Only a couple of staff speak English and others understand you anyways. The Galle fort is about 10min away by tuk, which is around 200 rupees. (Some tuks might ask for more money though). Overall a good start to a new venture for the owners, and a good place to stay for a medium...

Experienced a poor hospitality.

When we arrived to the restaurant, only one or two tables were empty and to be cleaned.

Steward said us to wait in a area which is under construction with lack of ventilation until arrange a table.

We were wait there more than 45 minutes and non of a table was arranged.

At the moment all the tables were empty but all are not cleaned (Arranged).

Therefore, we asked them to arrange a table for two times and nothing happened.

Later, we tried to clean and arrange a table by ourselves.

At the moment, a person called Assistant Manager rushed to us with unprofessional high voice.

With that poor hospitality, we chose to left the restaurant and determined not to come back again and not to recommend Mintage - Galle for any of our colleagues.

In addition to that, it is pertinent to mentioned that the person who introduced himself as Assistant Manager was selling Liquor to outsiders even it was a Poya Day and they paid much...

I went there last night. Place is okay. Meals are delicious. Prices are cheap compared to other restaurants like this. They have wide variety of meals. Even a complete vegetarian can have some nice dishes. Although their meals are great, their service doesn't match for a restaurant like this. Took more than 1and half hour to prepare 4 dishes. I know they prepare food when odered but that much delay is unacceptable. And they don't put any kind of sign for reserved tables. When I went there, they switched tables 3 times saying that table is already taken. How the hell I'm supposed to know that when there is no sign?. They should improve this.
