Discovered Sahana Beach Restaurant during our stay in Unawatuna and ended up dining at the venue on both days of our trip. Finding a good and worthwhile place to eat away from familiar cities can be tricky, but we felt like we hit the jackpot with this spot.
The restaurant is located right by the beach, offering a relaxed and scenic ambiance that we thoroughly enjoyed as a group of friends reuniting after a long time. The open, spacious layout added to the charm and made it perfect for group dining. Even though these were weekdays, the restaurant was always semi-crowded during our visits.
The food was commendable, with a wide variety of options to choose from. We tried the chicken fried rice, seafood kottu, chicken kottu, and lamprais, all of which were delicious and of commendable quality. A standout feature is their unique ice cream corner, handled by a lady, offering authentic flavors like Nil Katarolu, pomegranate, charcoal, and passion fruit.
The restaurant also has ample parking space, which is convenient for those driving in. The staff is well-trained and active in their service. Overall, Sahana Beach Restaurant was up-to our expectations with its good food and inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend it to anyone...
Read moreSahana snack bar is a peculiar yet charming little restaurant located off the dusty, exhaust-filled Matara Road. Screened by a painted concrete slab, a passing glance from a tuk is likely to overlook the large dining space concealed behind. Despite its minimal structure, however, Sahana is really a rather pretty place to sit down for a some pretty good shorteats
The dining area is a spacious and frilled by sand. This is alfresco dining, Dewata style. You can sit under the hot weather, shielded from the sun, drinking a Ice Coffee (Rs.100) while the fronds of a palm leaf brush against your shoulder. At the far end of the parking lies the children play area. The space that Spice inhabits seems like it was meant for something more that collapsed somewhere along the way, allowing for the rather twilight kade to pop up.
Foodwise as well, Spice is good. Just go for a fish roll and a glass full of ice coffee. The fish roll is tasty and their lunch menu curry is excellent.
This is quite the big to find on Matara Road. Not somewhere you should bother venturing out of your way for, but definitely a little haven of reprieve from the fumes of the street and the...
