When it comes to fast food, it is hard to beat this place. McD is not even close to the competition... Great parking for all kinds of vehicles, and if you're in a camper, you have found one of the towns sweet spots. The food is served quickly, thanks in part to the new ordering system with touch screen displays (no need to stand and figure out what the heck "räksallad" is with your translation program while the cue is building up behind you). The computerized system is granting each customer ample time to argue with the kids and partner about who gets what and I have come to love that it gives plenty of time to order. Max is the Swedish answer to McDonald's, so it is a fast food joint with an open kitchen. It has a fifties diner look to it but with several touch screen ordering stations. I prefer ordering on my phone through the website because then I don't feel pressure to be quick. You can also pre-order and pick up your food. Personally, I think their chicken sandwiches are the best thing on their menu. You get a large portion of actual chicken breast. Their shakes are also delicious, and you can get them plant based. When I'm at Arlanda Airport and I need a pick-me-up, I often order a molten chocolate cake. It's quite good for microwaved cake. Finally, if you prefer vegetarian options, you have plenty. We love a bit of fast food vegan action so of course we've been regulars at various Max restaurants since we arrived here. The downside is that every single time I've ordered a chilli cheese veg burger without chilli and cheese, it has come with cheese on it. Every time.

Of course, we send it back without fuss and wait for a new one to be made. This time however, the Manager refunded us for the burger, which was a nice gesture as it sure has started to get a bit predictable.

So high fives for Max for catering to the junk food vegans and double high fives for this branch in Östersund for going the extra mile for us.
