Decided to try lunch here as there were not so many restaurants opened on New Year's Eve. The restaurant welcomes you with an aromatic spicy scent. It is a medium sized restaurant warmly decorated with Indian themed paintings, cloths and lamps.
The food we had was hearty and delicious. We tired : Palak gost (Lamb, spinach, coriander), Biriyani Lamm (Lamb, saffron rice, tomatoes, biriyani masala spice, onions). Vitlöksnaan (Garlic naan) Chapatti (flat rye bread) Lassi (Mango yogurt drink)
The portions are cooked on order and each order is accompanied by a plate of rice and iceberg salad.
The lamb in the Palak Gost was soft and the sauce was creamy, slightly chunky with spinach and rich in natural spicy taste but not salty or hot. It was best eaten in a thick scoop with rice, naan or chapatti.
The rice in the Biriyani Lamm was flavourful and could be easily eaten on its own. The chunks of lamb however were hard and dry and didn't go well with the dish.
We enjoyed the Naan and Chapatti. They were well cooked, beautiful to look at and tasty.
A meal of Indian food is always more complete with Lassi. Here the Mango Lassi when made to order comes as a cold smoothie. It has a nice taste of ripe mango, a balanced mix of yogurt and mango puree and not too thick.
Food portions here are generous and we even had enough left for a takeaway bag which was generously refill with rice.
This restaurant is located just out of the city centre but easy to find. They also have a weekday lunch menu that includes free flow salad, cordial, tea / coffee.
Would recommend this restaurant for its genuine, generous food and kind smiling service. It's easy to leave this place feeling satisfied, warmed-up with smile...
Read moreGreat food for reasonable prices! This is affordable and delicious indian food. I highly recommend the garlic chicken butter masala, but I've also enjoyed the cheese butter masala and chicken tikka masala very much.
You get rice and a salad with each meal, and although the portions seem small, they are quite filling.
I recommend getting either garlic naan or parata to go with your meal. You can easily share one with two people.
They are very friendly, but they tend to hide in the back. So, if you want to order dessert or a second drink, you really have to go and get them. That's the only minor problem I have had here.
Great place, will definitely come back...
Read moreIndian food, it isn't my favourite. But I will give this review unbiased. The food is very mediocre. It has the flavours you expect, but there's a lot missing. It feels like they cook without love. And you'll taste it in the dish you ordered. The service is good, they do a good job and that keeps the rating up a little as this is important too. The atmosphere to me is really bad, it feels like walking in to just a bad place. Suspect they'd have a lot more customers if they remodelled. Maybe it's time to plan a closure for remodelling and make the place look...
