Bit of a mixed bag this place. It's an adventure making your way to the actual restaurant, as while there are signs, it feels like there shouldn't be a restaurant in such a location. Part of the experience though! We called ahead to order after carefully going through the menu linked here on google maps, only to be informed that this was an old menu and they don't serve several of the things we planned to order anymore. There was a few starters on the old menu that I was really looking forward to trying as they are rare to find, so that was disappointing. The hostes was kind enough to MMS me an updated menu by way of screenshots, so + points there. We were told the food would be ready in 15-20 minutes, but we didn't have our full order in hand until roughly an hour later, so that's a negative. Luckily we were not in a rush. While waiting we were treated to delicious karak tea by the same hostes, who were by the way very nice and welcoming, and I'd go as far as to saying singlehandedly bumped this review one star upwards. One of the dishes came in a special pot that we agreed to return the next day, which I thought was charming and trusting of them. We did come back to return it at the agreed time but the door was closed, and the person picking up the phone this time did not understand english, nor my Norwegian/Swedish mix, so we had to leave it at the door. I still don't know if they received it since they don't reply to messages. So as I stated, a bit of a mixed experience. Food was pretty good. I'll drop by again next time I'm in Gothenburg and see if they have Kibbeh and Dolmar back on the menu, and a bit better handle on their ETA's. If so I'll update...

Read moreWe tried out Dar Al Yemen Mandi in Gothenburg recently, and it was honestly a great little find. It’s tucked away in an industrial area, so not the easiest spot to stumble upon, but we decided to give it a try with the family, and it turned out to be a really nice experience.
We had the chicken mandi, the grilled chicken mandi, and the lamb mandi. The rice was perfect: soft, fluffy, and cooked with long grains. The grilled chicken stood out the most. It was incredibly tender and full of flavor. All the meats, including the lamb, were very well prepared and tasted great.
The lady running the place was very kind and genuinely cared about our experience. We told her it felt authentic and that we were glad we came by. Overall, definitely a place worth trying if you’re in the area and craving...
