We had a lovely iftar dinner at Lilla Istanbul in Gothenburg. The menu was quite nice and included a generous selection of main dishes, soup, salads, and snacks—as you can see in the photo. The restaurant offers a wide variety of food and especially a rich assortment of salads, which made the meal feel complete and satisfying.

While there are many Turkish restaurants in Gothenburg, Lilla Istanbul stands out as one of the better options, though perhaps not the very best. What sets it apart is the overall taste and freshness of the ingredients—this is the main factor that makes a difference compared to other places.

Aside from that, everything else was of a high standard: the service, atmosphere, and presentation were all excellent.

We are genuinely very happy. We ordered Istanbul special and dolma. They place a bowl of bread when you are seated as complimentary. Looked like Lepinje and very nice and we couldn’t consume as the food was quite generous portion. Everything on the grill platter except chicken wing which tasted stale. Other than that the spice and seasoning was on spot and nothing overpowering. Loved the dolma and is a first for me. Unfortunately the baklava was very disappointing, dry and just sugary. I have eaten baklava from a bakery before and blown away and was hoping something better or atleast similar from an authentic Turkish restaurant. Very Decent and fair priced Turkish restaurant. Their fresh bread and lahmacun(Turkish pizza)are amazing and the way they serve is very pleasant. Grilled food is also pretty good and in par with other Turkish restaurants in Gothenburg. The Curry’s they serve are just ok and I will not recommend. Lunch is fine too but all the times I went for lunch ,the Grilled food I ordered was always not warm. However in the evenings the food is made to order and very fresh. Service is ok too but sometimes it’s quite a challenge to reach the staff as it’s always super busy . I like the traditional decor and cozy ambience .
