Subete Sushi — Restaurant in Göteborgs Stad

This is THE place to go for a meal when visiting Liseberg! Having read the reviews and the rating I had some expectations. But I was still surprised in several ways.

First - the restaurant is located IN the tram station where you might expect to find a Sibylla at the most.

Secondly - they have a mixed menu so you can order pizza or sushi.

Had I not done my research I would never have gone here. But I had so we went - the whole family, 2 kids and 2 adults. We ordered 1 roll, 1 family sushi (30 pieces) and dumplings and a 2l bottle of coke. We dined in and was immediatly placed at one of the 3-4 tables by one of the very friendly and serviceminded persons working there.

First we were served mizu soup with an attitude. It was too spicy for the children but I loved it and my wife liked it.

After a reasonable while the food arrived as in the picture. (Dumplings didn't fit in the frame) Wow! Normally I have to add tastes such as soy, wasabi and ginger when eating sushi. Not here every bit was jam packed packed full of taste. I have had better sushi at Sushi Sho in Stockholm but the comparison is unfair. Sushi Sho has 1 star in Guide Michelin and in this place we were charged 620 SEK for the whole family.

We all loved it and finished every bit. We were all so full afterwards we had to be careful with the rides for a while when back in Liseberg to avoid accidents.

We go to Liseberg once a year and next year we will not go neither to 1923 nor heaven 23.

We will have Sushi here!

Edit: During our 2023 Liseberg visit we of course came back here. This time for lunch so we shared 20+30 pieces of sushi for the 4 of us and were satisfied. 5 star rating maintained

Edit 2025: Another annual Liseberg visit with another annual Subete dinner. All of the above is still correct except that the staff were even more friendly than usual. 5 star...

Until now I would have rated it highly. But i found a sharp triangular piece of clear hard plastic in my pizza, which scares me. I only found it by chewing on it.

This means that there is a lack of control over the purity of the ingredients and/or a lack of cleanliness at the restaurant, especially as the contaminant is something so foreign as a piece of plastic. Did something break and didn't get cleaned up properly? Was it already in the bought ingredients and they weren't checked properly?

This is sad and it pains me, because the staff is very nice and the pizza is well priced and has been good until now. The service has been very nice and the pizza is sliced without even asking for it.

But this type of contamination in the food is dangerous and must not happen. Hence the bottom score.

Amazing food. If you are a tourist, you might think the place is a bit shady or not convincing. Well, it's part of a train station, so what do you expect? But, as soon as you enter, you will be greeted by a very nice person who might struggle a bit with English but should be enough for us to understand each other. The food was surprisingly good and totally flawless. We end up ordering so much of them and finished it with full enjoyment. The waiting time for the food to arrived was a bit long.
