The universeum is one of the absolute best museums you can visit in Göteborg. Take a whole day with your kids. You can buy food and drinks in the universeum too. I had to buy online tickets in advance, because it is always full with visitors and they will let you in in certain time slots (which you can choose when you buy your online ticket). If you are early, like we were, just buy some snacks and sit down in the front area. There are also toilets. Best to prepare your kids for the awesome visit. The museum has a rainforest section that goes from entry up to the 5th floor with free flying birds and fish in the water you can observe. There are a lot of cool bridges and stairs to climb too. Small advise: put all the pullovers or jackets in your backpack. It es warm and humid in there. When you are ready, go directly to the aquarium in the 5 th floor to cool down with some amazing views in the huge water tanks and the watertunnel. There is also a section with snakes on the same level. There is also a level with space and rockets, which is very informativ and children can do a lot of fun stuff like Bycicle to the moon or jump on the moon and see on a screen with slow mo how their jumps would look like on the moon. And there is a science section where you can do experiments live in groups. But I think only with Swedish language. The best place to give your kids the last highlight for the visit before you go is the level with the human body. You will enter through a nose and can go inside a lung and other interesting stuff. Last thing: the museums shop is super cool and very well stocked with amazing things that will keep your child occupied after the visit - although I bet it will sleep like a baby after this day in the universeum.
The price may seem at first a lot per person/child - but it is...

Read moreI recently visited Universeum in Gothenburg with my kids and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. This place is perfect for families, especially if you want both fun and learning combined in one spot. My kids were super engaged the whole time, and honestly, even as an adult I enjoyed it a lot.
The building has several floors, and each one feels like stepping into a new world. On the ground floor, you start off with aquariums and some science exhibits – the underwater tunnel with sharks and fish was a huge hit with my kids. Moving up to the rainforest floor, it’s like walking into the Amazon: warm, humid, with monkeys, birds, and plants all around. The kids loved spotting animals and feeling like they were in an adventure movie.
On the technology and space floors, things get really interactive. There are hands-on experiments with physics, chemistry, and even robotics. The space area had rockets, planets, and cool VR-like experiences which really fascinated the kids (and me too!).
Another floor is dedicated to health and the human body, where children can test their reflexes, balance, and learn about how the body works through fun games. We also enjoyed the ocean zone upstairs, with massive tanks and colorful fish that kept the little ones mesmerized.
What I liked most was how everything is designed in a playful, casual way—so kids are learning without even realizing it. The layout across multiple floors keeps the visit exciting, and there’s always something new around the corner.
Overall, Universeum is worth every minute and every penny. It’s educational, entertaining, and unforgettable for kids and parents alike. Highly recommend it if you’re...
