This was by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I felt extremely uncomfortable the entire evening and this has ruined my first impressions of Gothenburg. I was expecting a luxury hotel and restaurant with high class service, yet received disgusting attitudes and comments from poorly mannered and untrained staff. Besides the awful experience, the food was below average in comparison to other 4 and 5 star venues visited. I would have much rather spent our money on something more worthy or a better quality meal, there are many places in Gothenburg I would have rather visited. We were extremely disappointed with our time here and will not be returning.
The entire experience was as follows,
As a first time visitor to Sweden, I was recommended to dine at this restaurant. Upon arrival at 10pm on Sunday 15th December 2019, we were greeted in a very unwelcoming manner. I was pushed to state that we were guests of the hotel in order to even begin requesting a table for three. We asked if we could be seated beside a window, and although the majority of the window-seating was empty, we were told they were not available and were seated at an uncleaned table right at the very exit of the restaurant (please bare in mind this was a Sunday evening at 10pm, there were unlikely to be any reservations to occupy even half the available space). There were seats available and they remained available throughout our entire evening. We were unpleasantly surprised to be so poorly greeted by the staff. As we were discussing what we were going to order between eachother, a waitress came and stood in front of us for a few minutes without saying a single word. It was clearly obvious that we had just been seated and needed a few moments, but were disturbed with rude and unnecessary comments as she left to return a few minutes later. This behaviour is extremely uncommon and strange to experience as you are seated in any reputable venue; no drinks were offered on arrival and we were made to feel very rushed.
After we had ordered, three main meals and three starters, a managing member of staff came by to tell us that we had ordered alot of food and we needed reminding that the restaurant was to close at 12 (this was a completely unnecessary statement to make and there was no reason to say this. We had ample time to eat and did not need to be made uncomfortable for ordering a standard amount of dishes). The first main steak dish arrived with two starters. A while after, the remaining shrimp sandwiches arrived and the final starter came after we had began eating these. Surely, the two shrimp dishes could have arrived at the same time as the steak as they are cold dishes. The steak was over done, not at all the medium-well steak as requested, and therefore we did not finish off this dish. The taste of the steak seemed low quality and was extremely chewy. When pointed out to a managing member of staff, we were told "well the kitchen is closed now" and were not offered an alternative for a poor quality dish; an extremely unhelpful way to respond with little care to accomodate us. He gave us another menu and told us to look for a cold dish. The steak was then discounted at a half price bill without us mentioning anything. However, we were made to feel as though this favour to us was enough to compensate for the terrible experience. This is not at all about the money, and entirely to do with disrespectful, unaware and poorly trained people at Heaven 23.
Staff constantly passed by our table over looking our meal without saying a word, making us extremely uncomfortable and feeling very out of place whilst trying to enjoy our evening. None of our dishes were finished off as the food was overall below average in taste and extremely overpriced for the high quality we were expecting from a 4 star restaurant like this. We took the initiative to ask for dessert menus as the staff did not seem to care to offer these to us after clearing our table.
Moments in to deciding what we wanted to order, we were interrupted with extreme...
Read moreVery, very, very crowded. We had to wait quite a while before being helped. One waitress was not kind to us at all, as we apparently sat down at the bar where she wanted us to to stand at the bar waiting for her to seat us in the dining area. We did not know this because we were in the bar area with a free couch. There is a friendly way to talk to people and explain how you want us to stand or move. Then it was not clear that we, because we sat down at the bar, did not receive a dinner table anymore and had to eat there??? But we didn’t receive a menu, so how would we know this? After waiting for more then half an hour with 2 very hungry and tired kids we asked and heard this was where we had to eat. Ofcourse not a problem for us to eat at a low table with 2 couches. But clarity is recommended. We had to ask for the menu then , because we still did not receive it. In the beginning the other waiter was very short to us as well but fortunately turned around after a while and treated us kindly. The food was very good, the view ofcourse beautiful. Would not return though, because of this experience and for this pricing would prefer a...
Read moreThe resturant is in good location with lovely view. Has a service minded staff and good food and great collection of drinks specially for cocktail and wine lovers. Here comes food and drink review: As an arrival drink I ordered a green memory. It was fresh and lemony, truely recommend it. For starter we both had bläckfisk, it was cooked to perfection. All components of dish had harmony and complimenting each other. The light smoked flavior gave depth to the dish. For main course we ordered musselsoppa and king size delux. The soup lacked a bit of seasoning but it was generally good. The king size prawns dish was really nice with all handpilled shrimps. However the dish had no special twist. It was just a normal classic Swedish shrimp sandwich. For desert we ordered "björnbär" and "appletartlett". The björnbär had rich chocolate flavor and sharpness of sorbet breaks through sweetness of chocolate. There was a very small donut, which was not adding much to the dish. On the other side the appletartlett was...
