Hero to zero. This was the last time. I have been going to Tomtoms burrito since it was first established by the original owner. Since the new ownership, the overall quality has progressly got worse. Tonight we had pickled cabbage on the fish tacos that was obviously from a jar. The cabbage and carrots used to be freshly chopped. The whole meal tasted of vinegar. The Paleo bowl chicken was too salty and the Guacamole was also from a jar. The Guacamole used to be freshly made. All my partner could taste after her meal was salt. We were also told that the coriander had ran out - at 1815 on a Saturday evening. It is a problem when you eat at a restaurant and you know you can do better at home. The lack of fresh ingredients, bad seasoning, smaller portions and higher prices do not make a good combination. Sorry Tomtoms. You blew it.
Edit to restaurant reply. Oh well. Your response tells me all I need to know about your attitude towards customer service. I didn't mention the staff in my review because I did not have an issue with the staff. You bought the staff into the conversation. It is true that one of our party enjoyed their food. 1 out of 4. 25%. Good effort, I suppose. For the record, I was irritated because the restaurant has specials advertised outside on a chalk board, but the staff did not know anything about them. If there are no specials, they should not be advertised. We asked for one dish without coriander, and the staff said they had ran out so no one will have any. I have been been eating at Tomtoms since it was first established on Prinsgatan in 2014. I knew the previous owner and I have met the new owner. The new owner told me himself that he was the new owner during a visit to the restaurant when I asked him about the previous owner. Maybe not a public announcement, but the fact remains, there is a previous owner and a current owner. I am not lying. This is represents no further intentions other than my observation that the restaurant has been in decline since the new owner took over. I happen to have pictures from November 2023 and today's meal. Admitidly, one is beef, and one is fish, but there is a difference in portion size, presentation and quality. Judge for yourself. The first two pictures are from November 2023 and the third picture is from today. Which would...
Read moreSurprisingly disappointed. Went here with high hopes of greatness.
Every taco we ordered, fish, beef & avocado all topped and finished the same way a ton of raw lightly seasoned red cabbage.
Feels like you're eating a cabbage taco.
Tortillas were fine, better than most places in GBG.
The beef, Costillas tacos were extremely dry. Had to be soaked in salsa/hot sauce to be edible.
I'm assuming the beef was sat in the bain marie far too long and has dried out completely.
The fish bacalao tacos again, dry overcooked. I'd be surprised if that wasn't frozen fish.
The avocado, aquacate tacos a first for me and really nice. The best of the three we had.
Everything just felt flat, dry and bland foodwise. Staff, lovely. Super chill vibes in the lokal.
I appreciate the evening we went seemed to be very slow & they had a new chef in training so perhaps we caught them on a bad night?
We will be back again & hope I can edit this review next time to 5 stars.
I appreciate the efforts towards real tacos. Desperately needed...
Read moreAfter moving from Southern California to Gothenburg, I’ve been on the hunt for a burrito that could live up to the bold, authentic flavors I grew up with. TomTom’s Burritos did not disappoint—it completely hit the mark! I ordered a burrito with half pollo and half carnitas, and it was everything I’d been craving and more. The flavors were spot-on, the spice level was perfect, and it genuinely felt like I was back in SoCal with every bite. The quesadilla was equally fantastic, with generous portions that leave you satisfied but wanting to come back for more. If you’re looking for a good burrito experience in Sweden, this is it. I can’t wait to return and try the tacos next time—TomTom’s has won a loyal customer for sure. A solid 10/10 and...
