What to say. I, as a premium member, do like Radisson, and there are usually never any complications when you are outside Sweden. I am a calm and respectful person, so my behavior has been controlled and understandable. But see below my experience during the week.
Arrived at the hotel and was going to check in. I asked for an upgrade subject to availability, just as it says in the RADISSON policy, according to your OWN RULES. The staff says there is none (Without checking of course) I respect the decision and follow the membership policy as a premium member and went up to the room provided. Once I was up in the room, I started the app, to search for rooms in the hotel, the exact dates that I'm here. BUT then I can see that there are available upgradable rooms. So, I called down to the front desk and told her that there are higher room types available for upgrade today. She then started to check and asked if I wanted an executive room or junior suite. As I am a good customer who does not ask for more than what I need, I chose the executive room. I had to DO THEIR JOB, as they do not follow their own service rules for premium members. Presumably the woman got annoyed with me because I was doing her job, when she denied me an upgrade at the front desk, which is MY RIGHT according to Radisson policy (Clear rules stated in the membership). She sent up another female colleague who came up with my new executive room card. Before giving me the card, she says that since you got a free upgrade, we have now removed your lounge access that you had in your booking. I was shocked. I had no use of the lounge, so I couldn't bear to discuss my rights either and thanked her colleague for the card and accepted the lounge loss. Why did your colleague remove my lounge access from my booking? Can you do that because you are angry that I did your job? In your policy and rules for premium members when you get a free upgrade subject to space and availability on that day, it does not state in your policy that if one gets an upgrade as a premium member, then we remove/you will lose all add-ons you bought for your booking? very bad behavior. When I was supposed to check out that day, I had a late afternoon flight. According to the policy as a premium member, you can check out late free of charge subject to availability, just like with a room upgrade. Even now, the staff did not check and told me that it is not possible. But I had checked in advance (because I was afraid they won’t do their job), and there were several rooms left available in my room type (I have to do Radisson’s job once again as a premium member) Then they checked and saw availability, but kept hesitating to let me check out at 3pm. All other hotel chains, as well as Radisson abroad usually allow me as a premium member to do so. His other colleague, the older colleague countered by saying "but you got a free upgrade" which I think was an arrogant reply, what does that have to do with it? Yes, I got a free upgrade because I am your premium member so why bring up that comment when I want to get late check out which is my RIGHT as your premium member according to your OWN policies. In the end, I only got a late check-out until 13.00, I checked out at 12.30 anyway, because I was going to a client meeting. I Didn't have time or energy to argue, I should not even need to ARGUE... So I just accepted what they said....
Really badly handled and extremely bad staff and service. Don't know who teaches you to treat customers this way and not following your own rules that are written in the app and website. Maybe you need to send your staff on internal training. What is the purpose of being a Premium member or a VIP member if you get treated like this? And what is the purpose of having your...
Read more#NETFLIXANDCAROLINE On my arrival to the hotel the receptionist staff were so welcoming after getting two flights to visit Gothenburg city I was tired and just wanted to relax in the room. After been given the key I couldn’t wait to see the room and enjoy the comfort, unfortunately everything was a mess. I walked in an immediately noticed all the little things that stood out that are actually the big things when you initially walk in to a room. End of bed had stains of dirt on the sheet, towels thrown in the bathroom, folded uneven and dumped, barely a tissue roll to do for the night, thick black strands of hair still on the bathroom sink and over the toilet. I was so angry and disappointed that this is a room I had to endure for the few nights of my stay. Though I loved seeing Netflix on the smart tv 😍 I just needed to say something to the manager to let them know what our room was like. And to avoid anymore disappointments for future guests.
I chatted to the manager on site, Caroline. Myself and partner briefly explained the room situation that it wasn’t exactly up to the standard we hoped for. I was barely finished talking and Caroline unhesitating sorted the situation fast, politely and was so apologetic about the room. I’ve worked in the hotel and catering business and understand who was really at fault, but I’ve never seen someone act so effectively and be extremely understanding about a situation. She went above and beyond to make sure our stay was pleasant. Though there was another mishap on the room following two days later (I won’t go in to details) but again Caroline dealt with the situation and I honestly cannot say enough good things about her. Shes a credit to Radisson Blu hotel and I did not leave disappointed. Above and beyond. I know it’s hard trying to keep everyone happy day in and day out and some days it can be so challenging but she did an amazing job.
The breakfast buffet : plenty to choose from. Hot items. Cereal, yogurts, nuts, cold meats, cheese, juices, smoothies, pastries, breads, rolls, hard boiled eggs, gluten free area, hot food items, pancakes. Though I will say Halloween (31st October) the breakfast was really awful. 😣Scrambled eggs like water. Everything was over cooked, or undercooked, nothing was rotated. Over cooked, burnt bacon at the end of the food warmer and what looked like uncooked bacon on top. Food definitely wasn’t made with love. ❌ disappointing considering it’s my favorite day of the year and was looking forward to a delicious breakfast. On the other hand the following day (1st November) the food was cooked perfectly. I highly doubt it was the same chef, I’d be baffled if it was.
Would I stay again? Yes. I travel a lot and love the Radisson Blu chains.

The housekeeping definitely need to be reviewed to keep the standards high of a four star hotel. Unfortunately this was the only downfall of the hotel.
The hotel is at a perfect location, shopping center 2 minutes away. Trams directly outside the hotel, botanical gardens 2 minutes away, Liseberg Amusement Park is 20 minute walk away. Also buses to the airport is directly across the road. Costing €12 p/p one way. Or 230 Swedish krona. And though there is construction going on at the hotel it honestly made no difference. As we didn’t hear a thing while...
Read moreAhhhh, Goteborg. Such a beautiful little city! We were fortunate enough to be able to ring in the New Year in this Swedish gem of a town, and it didn't disappoint. The Radisson Blu is centrally located within Goteborg, within a moments walking distance of absolutely everything, and turned out to be a wonderful, cozy hub for us.
I booked a family room in advance for the trip, and having read the other reviews on here I made sure to email ahead to state that an indoor room (overlooking the atrium with no real window to the outside world) wouldn't be acceptable. Perhaps I went a little far in exploiting my husband's asthma for the cause, but it was important to me that I didn't spend all my indoor hours looking into a lobby. They came through and gave us a room with a real, live window outside. Success!
The room itself was spacious and clean. The décor is Ikea meets 1980's Boy George, complete with punches of neon box lighting on the headboard. I wanted to put my hair in a side ponytail and stuff my trouser bottoms into my socks, but I was traveling with my nearly 13-year old daughter and I took her propensity to get embarrassed into account. If I was alone I'd have bought scrunchies, peace sign earrings, and my own hairdryer (the one provided is too weak to style proper peacock bangs). Then I'd have rocked steady, steady rockin' all night long.
Or maybe not.
But maybe.
Despite its quirkiness, the room was actually pretty nice. The family room is a king bed with an additional sofa bed, which worked out perfectly. I'd have really liked it if the sofa bed had been folded back up by housekeeping when they came in the mornings. It would have been much nicer to have a sofa and seating area during the day and afternoons, as opposed to it being a bed the whole time.
The breakfast at the Radisson Blu is fantastic. The best of the best. It's rows and rows of hot, cold, breaded, juiced, and pickled...really, anything you want in both traditional Scandinavian fare and continental favourites. Anyone who complains about the breakfast--I have to question their sanity. It will knock your socks off.
I chose the Radisson Blu Scandinavia over the other hotels in the area for one solitary reason: it had a gym with an indoor pool. This amenity tends to be non-negotiable with the husband. He loved the gym and my daughter enjoyed the pool. A tad on the busy/crowded/splashing kids everyday side, but I don't fault the hotel for that. It was a great pool area, heated, while it was -4c outside. OF COURSE all the kids were in there...just like mine was.
My only real complaint (aside from the sofabed) is that it's difficult to pre-pay before arrival. I like to go on holiday and know all the big stuff is handled. It would be nice if there was an easy way to do this before you get there, aside from their back-and-forth, archaic faxing of authorizations and email follow-ups. That is seriously outdated (and this is coming from someone who actually thought the 1980's décor was fun).
Would I go back? Definitely. Not only that, I'm likely to seek out a Radisson Blu when traveling to other...
