Decided to treat myself on my last night in Malmö. Started with the prawns, very good, (although the portion felt small but due to the dish it was served in), followed with the venison, which was beautifully cooked along with a good selection of well cooked veg, and a well flavoured jus, and finished the meal with a lovely creme brulee.
Honourable mention to the Negroni(s), I may of had a second.
The restauraunt is beautifully decorated and clean, service was unhurried, very lovely people and the ambience in the restaurant was just right. Would highly recommend as a local place to eat and hope to be back when I visit again!
Only one very small thing, I don't expect menus to be in English, when I don't speak a local language, as many from England do, but my Google translate almost caused a mishap, so just check if you're using it to translate that you're ordering what you think you are, guess that applies to...

The menu didn't accurately describe the food, but it was not a problem because the food was excellent. But I do hope the menu will be updated, since people should know what they are ordering. For example, the scallops were supposed to be served with garlic butter and coriander, but they were actually served with a spicy tomato sauce. And they were delicious! The burgers are a bit overpriced for what they are, and I would recommend getting burgers at a place like Charlie's or Bronx that specializes in burgers, but the lamb and cod were great value. Read morePorto Gastrobar is one of few restaurants I've been to in Malmö where you can enjoy a perfectly prepared (and huge!) sirloin steak for a reasonable price.
The service is really good, too. And the location, next to the world-famous skyscraper Turning Torso and just a few hundred feet from the sea, added nicely to the atmosphere.
As a visual artist, I've been documenting (in books and films) this area for two decades. Restaurateurs have come and gone. Porto Gastrobar is one that I hope stays for a long, long time.
I've tried most restaurants in this area (Västra Hamnen (the Western Harbor) and none come even close to the service level and eating experience I've had at Porto Gastrobar.
