The restaurant is very well decorated on the inside and quite eye catching, we were in awe and took some really nice pictures there as well, as Indian we couldn’t help spot some of the Maharajas and Ranis we knew and had a great time right from the get go. I also ordered a little cocktail called the dark and stormy, like the day and it was as usual great! To come to the food, we tried Pani Puri, which I firmly believe is something one could skip as it is at the bottom of my list, nothing bad but not great either; Gandhi’s revenge pani puri, this one surely packs a punch of chilli, for the desis, this is dahi puri with a spice kick, but one could add some mango chutney to add sweet flavour and honestly enhance your experience! The chatpata Samosa chat was the first thing emptied at our table, it was delicious! A must I would say. Papdi chat was good too, but I would still prefer the samosa chat over this; they have the same base but the samosa is truly magnificent! We finally had our main course and only the paneer butter masala and garlic naan since we were next to full. We were glad to not have missed out on this since the flavour was really at par with some of the best restaurants back in India. We ended with some kulfi which was tasty but not the same texture as the stick kulfi from my childhood, which I have had only at one restaurant here in Sweden yet we ended up finishing the kulfi! Service staff were all nice, kind and carried a smile, one member of the staff who I unfortunately forgot to ask for the name was great and came to check on us but we were busy indulging and were grateful for it all! We will...
Read moreI tried their lunch menu (served from 11:30 to 15:00), where you can choose two dishes of the day for 115 kr. The food was delicious and felt authentically made; flavorful, well-balanced, and not overly oily, which I really appreciated.
The interior is beautifully done and definitely elevates the atmosphere, making it feel a bit more special than a typical lunch spot.
However, I was disappointed with the service. After paying and thanking the staff, there was no response, not even a simple “thank you” or “have a nice day.” It gave the impression that guests weren’t truly welcome, and that left a sour note on an otherwise good meal.
For me, a restaurant experience is more than just food or design, it’s about how a place makes you feel. When it feels like a transaction rather than hospitality, it takes away from the experience. That’s why I’m giving 3 out of 5 stars. Great food, lovely space, but the lack of warmth in service keeps me from...
Read moreI stumbled upon Kontrast by chance and ended up finding one of my favorite spots in Malmö. This place isn’t just another Indian restaurant, there’s something genuinely special about it.
Their lunch thali is the kind of meal that makes you pause and appreciate each bite. Two delicious dishes, rice, salad, bread, and raita. The flavors are bold but balanced, with just the right level of spice.
What stood out to me most (besides the food) was the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff are friendly without being overbearing, it feels relaxed, genuine, and easy.
I had the Ambersari Bhuna Lamb and was honestly blown away. The lamb was incredibly tender, and the depth of flavor in the sauce was just next-level rich, spiced, but not overpowering. It's the kind of dish you keep thinking about long after the meal is over.
Highly recommend this spot. Whether you’re grabbing lunch or looking for a cozy dinner, you won’t be disappointed. I know I’ll be...
