15+ years ago the staff asked if you really wanted to order a dish with 3 chilis on the menu and told you that you'd been warned. Nowadays it's just what one chili corresponds to in other Thai restaurants.
For some unknown reason I received my entree before my starter. The laab lacked lemon grass and mint but had a better chilli bite (though no way near what a 3 chili dish would be, or has been here in the past) than the som tam (also marked with 3 chilis) which only had two deseeded chilis for the entire portion. Good flavour profile when it comes to sweet, salty and sour. Plenty of fresh lime wedges in the som tam. The rice was bad. Overcooked and mushy.
Too bad the staff hadn't cleaned the table after previous guests (rice on the tablecloth) and for some reason they cranked up the stereo an hour before closing time when guests were still eating and trying to have conversations.
