My food only tasted like vinegar. The starters tasted extremely vinegary (honey pickles and a salad). The waitress said she would tell the cook. Not sure if that was the case. Our main courses also tasted like potatoes. I could not eat the sauce with my fish because I would only taste vinegar. My boyfriend's smashed potatoes tasted like vinegar too. Why do you need to add vinegar to everything? Especially after we have mentioned it. Mashed potatoes with vinegar? It is a weird concept to me.
Only positive points: good offer of beverages (expensive, though) and good, tasty bread—you can't really go wrong with bread.
The place was cosy inside, but the wall was full of food stains, which was disgusting. Also, the tables are really close to each other, so there is no privacy whatsoever.
Expensive restaurant for what the menu offers... especially considering that the seasoning of the dishes is only with vinegar. I would not recommend...
Read moreWe were excited to try out Prästgatan, the sister restaurant of the well-known Spiseriet. It has a similar cozy atmosphere with an open kitchen and eclectic furniture, giving off a countryside vibe right in the center of Varberg. While Spiseriet focuses mainly on produce and herbs, Prästgatan's menu explores various culinary directions with equal creativity. Our dining experience featured well-balanced and expertly executed dishes. The highlight was definitely the halibut, leaving a lasting impression. If fish is on the menu, you can't go wrong here. However, the panko-fried langoustine with sriracha mayo and jalapeños didn't quite match our taste, but that's just personal preference. It's a trendy thing to put sriracha and jalapenos in Sweden, it seems. But at least it goes to show there is something for all tastes on this menu. Overall, highly recommend trying...
Read moreWe stopped by Prästgatan on our way to Falkenberg and it was definitely worth the trip. We ordered the daily special lunch and in a few minutes we got a complimentary soup and amazing bread. The lunch was excellent and reminded me of the tasty food my grandmother would make. We tested the Spiseriet apple must and oh my so tasty. We rounded off the lunch with a dessert and it was so tasty that I did not manage to get a photo. We spoke to Peter Hallden, one of the owners and a wine expert. He showed us some of his latest purchases of natural wine created in Hyltebruk and we will come back for an evening dinner so we get a chance to taste. Overall it was such a lovely experience, the food was excellent and on Micheline level, service was excellent and the people lovely. We strongly recommend Prästgatan and yes it’s...
