View is splendid and definitely the highlight.

Food CP value ok. Portions rather on the conservite side. Main dishes don't come with side (like beef or duck). Side dishes are large though. Beverage selection generous with variety to choose from.

Service probably most lacking. We had a first staff bringing us the drinks and wine menus and she asked us if we wanted to start off with a drink or cocktail and immediately started with her recommendations. We asked her to view the dinner menu first and once we had chosen what to eat, we would choose the drinks. She left but didn't bring the dinner menu, so we her male colleague about it and he then rudely didn't allow us to finish talking and responded that "you don't let me explain, just listen to me". I felt not good about that at all, so he explained that the "policy" was that they first brought the drinks menu, waited for the guests to choose drinks and then would bring the dinner menu. I then explained that we had asked before already to view the dinner menu first and didn't want any explanation. There was no prompt action from his side, nore any appology for the misunderstanding. This was in June 11th 2025.

During dinner, the female staff kept telling us about her recommendations, be it about dinner or wine, but she obviously lacked the right knowledge about either, especially wine where she made stuff about about taste etc. just to recommend the more expensive choices. We didn't appreciate this attitude.

Overall service ettiquette from both staff that night was very lacking and disappointing, hence only 2 stars for service.

As an amateur food critic couple, we long for restaurants with perfection, consistency and love in what they do. Very rarely do we say this but Cambrian does it all and more. From their warm hospitality to the lovely food the Cambrian so far has twice lived up to their name and more.
