L’Ambasciatore Andermatt — Restaurant in Andermatt

I recently organized a reservation for 35 people at this restaurant, where we had pre-selected and reduced the menu options to ensure a smoother experience. The restaurant had confirmed that our choices would be feasible. However, what unfolded was a complete disaster.

Despite the staff being polite and accommodating, it took nearly 2 hours for everyone to be served, which is simply unacceptable for a group of this size, especially when the menu was already simplified. To make matters worse, the food was poorly cooked, with some dishes clearly underprepared, and the portions were inadequate—many plates were missing key components of the meal.

While the service was friendly, the execution of the corporate dinner was far from professional. The long delays, poor food quality, and insufficient portions made this event a real disappointment. I cannot recommend this restaurant for any group or corporate events based on this experience.

It’s particularly frustrating because they are now trying to shift the blame, claiming they had informed us that a full à la carte dinner wouldn’t be possible for a group of 35. Let’s start with a story;

We arrived at “L’Ambasciatore" with absolutely no expectation, without knowing what was about to happen, and were welcomed like absolute kings. We had just spent the most amazing day of our lives, driving the “Swiss Grand Tour”, riding along the most amazing hairpin turns in the beautiful alpine passes of the Anzermatt area. Once we entered the restaurant, we were kindly received by the owner, and seated at the best table of the place, and his gorgeous wife took care of us the entire night like we were family. Being both from the service industry in Canada, the second our fennel salad, spaghetti Pomodoro and Quattro staggione pizza arrived, we could taste the love and passion in each bite. The cook even came out and took care of us, bringing extra olive oil and basil to complete the experience.

Excellent meal!! Very authentic! Spectacular service and food. The staff made us feel like family joking with us and making excellent recommendations. The atmosphere was relaxing and was the perfect end to a long ski day. We started with the Tris de bruschetta and the winter salad which were both spectacular. The bruschetta was our family’s favorite! We had the fettuccine Alfredo, Beef lasagna, and panccheri alla vodka and we all cleaned our plates. The perfect sized portions and most amazing tasting food. As close to authentic as you can get without going to Italy itself! We ended the night with gelato (chocolate and raspberry) and a cannoli.
