We absolutely loved our dining experience at Bali Umami Soulfood in Basel. While the menu may not be vast, it offers just the right amount of choices, each with unique variations that allow you to explore a range of flavors. What stood out to us was how the first dish came with an array of side dishes, all served on the same plate. This meant we could enjoy multiple tastes and textures in a single meal, each bite bringing a new, delightful flavor.

As someone who has enjoyed Southeast Asian cuisine before, I can confidently say that trying Balinese food for the first time at Bali Umami Soulfood was an extraordinary experience. The richness of the food was perfectly balanced, making it a special and memorable meal—almost like taking a trip to Bali itself.

The service was incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel right at home. The portions were generous, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. It’s clear that the food is made with great care; everything is prepared from scratch by the chef, who has lived in Bali for many years and brings that authentic touch to every dish.

We are in Basel today 1st Aug 2024 ,Swiss independence day, when most of the restaurants are closed! My husband googled and found this restaurant which had super reviews , we were in a mood for a lovely Asian meal. So he emailed , and to our delight the owner responded saying the restaurant will open in the evening at 6.00pm . We were received warmly n made comfortable by the owner and drinks were served very quickly. He had opened the restaurant specially for us when he received my husband's email! 🙏 He explained the menu to us and we ordered the typical authentic Indonesian dish which he and his son cooked for us, it was so delicious! 😋 We had coconut ice cream and sorbet for dessert which was lovely and refreshing.

We inquired from him regarding the fireworks display they were going to have later on in the evening , he went out of his way to explained to us how to get there giving us the bus numbers the route etc.. ! From the moment you step inside, you can feel the authentic and welcoming atmosphere that immediately transports you to Bali.
