Mandir — Restaurant in Basel

Absolutely bad food! We ordered take away and the food delivered was really BAD. No offense, but these restaurants marketing Indian food should either learn how to cook or hire better chefs!!

The lamb biryani had an intense smell of overcooked and burnt spices (eg: cardamon), the meat was over cooked and the rice was soggy and overcooked. They basically mixed overcooked rice and lamb curry together. The palak paneer was essentially store bought paneer mixed with store bought rahmspinat (spinach puree frozen with cream) and a huge chunk of raw tomato, they didn't even bother to simmer the ingredients together. Lastly, the naan was cold, dry and probably pre-cooked.

OH YES! i love this place. it sure is delicious and staff is friendly – but it gets even better. they have a summer take-away special (10.-) which i asked to get filled in my own container (zero waste) which sometimes leads to a funny face and can make things a bit complicated. not here! Ordered here but my meal delivery was inexplicably cancelled minutes before the food-tracker said it was ready. I was not informed, it just stopped tracking and showed an error.

When I phoned to find out what happened the staff member was very rude to me and told me it was my problem now because the kitchen was closed. He did not once apologise or appear to care at all.

Very disappointed that one of my (previously) favourite restaurants would have such poor communication and...
