Update: Number 1 here is ATTITUDE but let's not stop the flow of the polemical response of the owner hey?
I think it's the attitude of the reply below that makes this restaurant what it is. For them to say that the UK has BSE beef and that Switzerland has good quality beef is exactly the kind of desperation that seeps through from the extortionist prices that they wilfully charge (without a smile). It's also this kind of an attitude that means that this year I am sailing right through Switzerland without stopping and am instead going to stop in Nancy (FR) and Milan (IT).
(On a side note please note how Switzerland is needy of tourist money that it unabashedly charges a road tax to all tourists just passing through the country! I guess their roads are like their beef.....ie a much needed source of revenue?)
Business owners in Switzerland should be aware that if they can't compete in pricing and friendly attitudes then clientele will stay elsewhere. I would even recommend tourists to stay at Mulhouse instead of Basel for non-extortionist pricing at hotels and restaurants.
The person replying may also not have grasped how reviews work. They are honest and accurate views of people who have been lucky or unlucky (as the case may be) to have frequented an establishment so going on about not having my full name or contact details is further evidence of the kind of antagonistic naivety that this restaurant is going to become famous for..... But hey ho....each to their own right?
Original Review: You can even try a local Macdonald's and you'll get better food quality and service than here. The meat is not great quality and there are dreadfully common attitudes by pretentious staff who work at this roadside diner..... A diner that relies on getting the business of non-the-wiser starving travellers who have no where else to eat in the immediate vicinity. The manager of this roadside diner probably believes that he can overprice their common cuts of beef by saying they are bred on natural bio ingredients. This is so laughable as the day after in the UK I ate a fillet steak that cost a 3rd of the price and this was the famous Angus beef unlike the infamously overpriced and tough meat at this diner... Meat that is over-hyped by the diner itself. The manager would be well advised to spend some more time in sourcing reasonably priced meat or improving the ambience or improving training of the staff or indeed taking heed of positive and constructive criticism ..... Instead of taking things personally and becoming polemical with paying guests who do not feel they have received value for money or seen politeness...
Read moreFirst thing to note here: It's an expensive restaurant. Second thing to note: I don't think I've ever been so mad at the food while I'm eating it. It honestly feels like them disrespecting their own food.
Starting from the good part because I'll rant for a quite bit later on.
The service was the only thing that is carrying the score for me, which is quite sad to experience, I was guided to my table very nicely despite it being quite full. Coleslaw and french fries were alright but none of them fit to their price range. Now to the bad parts.
Starting from the top, the buns were the lowest tier of buger buns i've ever had. very breakable. The patty was very hard to cut even with fork and knife. if you try to bite into it the whole burger just breaks apart as all the ingredients gets squeezed to the sides while the buns fall apart. You can clearly smell and see that the patty wasn't hand/home made, which is something I'd at least expect at a price range like this. The burger was actually worse than a 8$ fully industrialy processed burger i can buy from the street.
None of the food outshined in any way and in total: burger+fries/coleslaw/a beer i paid over 54.- just to get disrespected by their food.
I was there during dinner so you'd expect a lot people. But I didn't expect it to be louder than a McDonald's. It's as if they are trying to rush you away with this ambient so they can get more customers.
I haven't tried their other meat variants yet but from what I saw the size is quite sad compared to the other restaurant i reviewed (Schindler Frohsinn) which is also meat focused, about the same price range.
I don't plan on changing this rating nor do I plan on coming back again unless I'm forced to by family or friends, then I'll...
Read moreOk simple task , immediate star for wifi, with no hasels . Star for fantastic restrooms . Malbec wine just great. So thats 3 stars. I ordered the classic burger, as I don’t trust anyone to deliver the goods - so as a test I choose the simplest on the menu and work from there. I was kind of shocked to get a burger with no tomato or even a slice of onion? Is that normal ? Yes it is , I’m told. So just so its clear the picture of the burger is only for the burger with cheese, I’m told , there would be lush tomatoes and onions on it if you order the cheese burger . Ok whatever just looks bad is all I’m saying .... look at my pic to see the classic choice . But lets get to the taste : It’s fantastic! Great flavor, great bread, good fit in the hand.. all holds together really well. Next ill try the cheese burger and comment again. Should warn the peeps that the classic is very different to the picture right next to it. Anyway enough said - good...
