Authentic Colombian Delight in Basel

I had the pleasure of dining twice at Restaurante Colombiano Nuestra Tierra in Basel, and I can confidently say it’s the best Colombian restaurant I’ve tried in Europe. Every dish tasted authentic, crafted with fresh ingredients, and bursting with the rich flavors that define Colombian cuisine.

During my visits, I enjoyed an array of traditional dishes: Cazuela de Mariscos, a hearty seafood stew full of flavor; a generous Picada featuring crispy chicharrón, savory morcilla, tender costillas de cerdo, juicy chorizo, crunchy patacones, and perfectly fried yuca. I also savored Lechona, Sobrebarriga, and several other Colombian specialties—all prepared to perfection.

We also had the chance to celebrate New Year’s Eve at the restaurant, and it was an unforgettable experience. The evening was filled with Colombian music, vibrant energy, and a fantastic atmosphere, making us feel right at home while welcoming the new year.

The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, adding warmth to the experience. The restaurant also offers plenty of space for larger groups, making it ideal for gatherings with family or friends.

As soon as you enter, you're greeted with typical Colombian hospitality. The space is decorated with colorful handicrafts, elements of coffee culture, and a lively soundtrack that blends cumbia, vallenato, and salsa.

As a starter, the crispy empanadas, stuffed with well-seasoned meat, are a must-try, especially when accompanied by the traditional ají sauce. Very good place with homemade food. The service was very kind and accommodating (a bit slow because of a birthday but they did let us know). The ambiance was lovely with great music and a nice terrace outside. We had the patacones with pork (delicious!), the arepa (was ok, the meat could be juicier and either herbs for better taste), fresh juices (the mango one needed a bit more of fruit but they added more when we asked) and the empanadas (super good!). I will go again for their Sunday...

The food was delicious and very authentic. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas and full of details that make you feel in Colombia. The service was amazing, they gave us natilla to try, and they even gave us two meals for the kids (on the house). They were also very welcoming with our dog. We ordered the Bandeja Paisa and the Costillas, both were 10/10 🌟 I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit again!

The food was delicious and very authentic. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas and full of details that make you feel in Colombia. The service was amazing, they gave us natilla to try, and they even gave us two meals for the kids (on the house). They were also very welcoming with our dog. We ordered the Bandeja Paisa and the Costillas, both were 10/10 🌟 I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit again!
