Pokhara Nepali Kitchen und Take Away — Restaurant in Bern

I had high expectations after seeing the online reviews and ratings on Google for this restaurant, unfortunately they were far from met. I had lunch there: soup of the day and a mix of Momos. Firstly the soup was oversalted and tasted nothing like what was described to me (coconut, ginger,…), the taste and texture was good though. The Momos were very disappointing for me, as they were close to flavorless without the dip. Also the meat inside the momos was very very dry, it lacked juiciness (here I can recommend adding some sesame oil to the meat mixture before filling a just an idea). The best thing was by far the homemade iced tea. The food was not worth the 40 CHF I spent (1 drink, 1 starter, 1 main from the lunch menu)… also the online prices on the website do not correspond to the actual prices (they are higher).

The service was nice, but clearly knew nothing of what was being served that day (she had to go ask in the kitchen multiple times, also when other tables were ordering). They then managed to mix up my main order as the starter for the table next to me, and the restaurant was far from full at that point. We arrived at the restaurant at 9:15 PM, having traveled all the way from Grindelwald to try their Nepali cuisine, only to be turned away. Despite the restaurant being advertised as open until 10 PM, they informed us that they stop taking orders at 9 PM—information that is not mentioned on their website or any third-party platforms.

We were surprised and disappointed that they refused to serve us, even after we politely requested a small order or even snacks. The staff showed no flexibility, and we were left to leave hungry after our long trip. The ONLY place in Bern that makes edible Momos. And here they are not just "edible" but downright delicious!! Everything is perfect, the flavour, the texures of both meat and dough as well as a wonderfully balanced sauce to go with it. Thank you so much, I will come again soon. And thank you for using actually GOOD QUALITY meat, unlike the old rubber all other Momo places use - it really comes to shine. People DO notice it!
