Ecluse — Restaurant in Biel/Bienne

Many years ago I had visited the Écluse and was thrilled by this island of tranquillity. I finally found it again and it has simply become even better. The concept of sustainability and regionality is convincing and does not imply any restriction; on the contrary, the creativity required brings wondrous combinations and flavourful surprises to light. Also perfectly prepared. The wonderful evening was accompanied by selected wine (trust their recommendations, you will not be disappointed!) and lovely (staff) people.

Test in winter. Could it be any better? Yes, it was... a wonderful pleasure and evening. The lovely and dedicated service team recommended a firework of natural wines with a few surprises. The food was a delight. What is certainly worth emphasising is that the vegetarian menu was 100% on a par, which is unfortunately rare. A place to feel good...

We went to the resto on Friday night and decided on the surprise seasonal menu of 4 courses. Love the setting of the resto, very comfortable seatings at the terrace. Food is tasty! Main course is a big portion. Food at écluse is more simple and sort of like a brasserie vibe compare to the creative fine-dining at Lokal. Our waiter, Nicola, was attentive, hilarious, and really friendly. Bonus point for making us amazing drinks (both cocktails and mocktails were delicious!) The restaurant is also dog friendly! I had a wonderful dining experience at Restaurant Écluse in Bern. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was truly outstanding – attentive without being intrusive. I tried their homemade pasta with summer truffle and Gruyère beurre blanc, which was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced.
