If I could give zero stars I would. Despite the bakery looking nice, this was the worse experience of "customer service" I have had whilst travelling around Switzerland. The woman serving was so incredibly rude despite me being very polite. I got given the wrong coffee (asked for a latte and got given an espresso) and when I asked to add some milk (not wanting to put her out by asking for a whole new coffee despite her mistake) she rolled her eyes and created a scene. So imagine what she was like when I then also asked for another sachet of sugar, god forbid. Also, whilst I was there a young guy accidentally knocked a bottle of alcohol off in my opinion an over filled shelf. A woman who I assume was the manager stood over him, hand on hip, giving him a very loud lecture and tapping his wallet whilst the poor guy, looking obviously mortified and very sorry, pleaded with her that he had no money to pay for it - no doubt being Switzerland it was probably minimum 100 CHF - it was so uncomfortable. In future I would rather eat my money than give it to them for something in their store. Moral of the story? Do not work in customer service if you have no basic human...
Read moreThe only Cafe that open early in the morning near train station. This cafe is from the town nearby any has found its way to many cities in Valais. The Walliser like this cafe. They have seasonal products such as pumpkin bread in autumn. Des Shops Assistent ist kind enough that after bought bakery in the shop and missed the train by thirty seconds, she let me sit and wait for 15 mins in the shop. (The price for eating at the restaurant is about 10% higher than the price in the shop.) They have 5 kinds of eclair and the most varieties of cakes that you can find around here. Personally I find that bread and croissant a little bit too dry. But all of their products are Swiss standard. You also have sockets to work in the cafe. They have home made praline, apricots pie and some sweet you can buy...
Read moreExtremely poor service. We were originally greeted in German and my wife replied that were were American (and we don’t speak German, English?). The employee’s face appeared to immediately get serious and her attitude came across rude. When we asked about our sandwich choices since there was no English on them, my wife and I were told our only options were either ham, ham & tomato or just cheese when there were clearly many other options (salmon, salami, chicken, etc.). When we asked about the other sandwiches her response was the same: No. Only ham, ham & tomato or just cheese.
It’s possible that something was lost in translation but I’m a little hesitant to say that was the reason for poor service considering others behind us asked for (and received) a salmon...
