Villa Barone Ristorante Pizzeria — Restaurant in Dübendorf

I have mixed feelings about our meal at Villa Barone. On a positive note, the menu offers a good selection of dishes for both vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians, and the food was well-prepared and tasty.

We were rather disappointed by the service though. We had 3 children with us and their food took far too long (about an hour!) to arrive. They were super hungry. When I asked about this I was told that it was because I ordered a soup. But I was the only one on our table of 7, so I’d have expected the staff to have considered serving the children at least together with my starter.

There could also be more options available for vegans. Many Italian restaurants now offer vegan cheese on request. This isn’t on offer and I ordered a pizza without mozzarella, which was rather dry and I had to add olive oil on it myself. A suggestion would be to offer vegan cheese, but also to indicate what’s vegan on the menu.

At the end of the meal the waiter brought espresso and grappa which I know was a kind gesture, but it would have been better if he asked us first, as most of us didn’t want either of them, and it was quite a waste.

Die Villa Barone liegt perfekt gelegen im Zentrum von Dübendorf. Die Anbindung am ÖV-Netz ist sehr gut, die Bushaltestellen in wenigen Gehminuten erreichbar. Wer mit dem Auto unterwegs ist, dem stehen ebenfalls in wenigen Gehminuten kostenpflichte Parkfelder zur Verfügung (nach 20 Uhr und sonntags gratis). Das Restaurant verfügt über eine grosse Anzahl Innen- und Aussensitzmöglichkeiten. Der Zugang ist barrierefrei. Die Inneneinrichtung ist funktional und schlicht. Die Wandmalereien fand ich sehr ansprechend. Die Menukarte bietet eine grosse Auswahl an italienischen Gerichten, eine Saisonkarte rundet das Angebot ab. Das Servicepersonal war zügig unterwegs, stets freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen war gut, geschmacklich war alles wunderbar, echt lecker.
