A Delightful Takeaway Experience!

I recently had the pleasure of ordering takeout from Restaurant Chalet , and I can confidently say it was one of the best food experiences I've had in a long time! From the moment I placed my order to the moment I enjoyed my meal, the service was nothing short of exceptional.

Upon arrival, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine sense of hospitality. The staff were incredibly kind and polite, making sure I felt welcome even though I was just picking up my food. To my pleasant surprise, they even offered me a complimentary beer! This thoughtful gesture truly made my visit feel special and set the tone for a wonderful dining experience.

Now, let's talk about the food! The menu is a vibrant showcase of Indian cuisine, with a wide variety of dishes that cater to all tastes. I decided on the classic Butter Chicken , Daal Makhani, Garlic Naan and so on , and I must say, they were all absolutely divine. The Butter Chicken was rich and creamy, with just the right amount of spice, while the naan was freshly baked and perfect for soaking up every last drop of the delicious sauce.

It was clear that every dish was prepared with care and attention to detail. The portion sizes were generous, ensuring that I had plenty to enjoy later.

Overall, my experience was truly outstanding. The combination of exceptional service, a warm atmosphere, and delectable food has made me a loyal customer. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu! If you're in the mood for authentic Indian cuisine, I highly recommend checking out this gem. You won't be...

A master class of treating a long time regular customer poorly. Truly impressive.

After a bad case of food poisoning from our previous visit (which we only shared privately with the restaurant), we were offered 3 entrees in a gesture of goodwill for our feedback. This was appreciated, as we usually order from the Chalet a LOT.

It took months for us to be willing to return, but we did tonight, ordering our usual meal (the exact order we did the previous time), and noting as requested in the comments that we would like to apply the 3 comped meals.

Upon arrival, I was billed full price for my order and told that instead of comping what we ordered, we would be given 3 additional dishes at random, in addition to our order. I objected, but was told that's "how they comp things" and I somehow ordered it wrong (?) by ordering the dishes wanted. I was not called or asked if any of this was acceptable to me.

Instead of taking an opportunity to fix something for a longtime customer, you've turned a gesture of goodwill into a mess of frustration. I now have way too much food (just before vacation), dishes I didn't order, and no comps for the food I wanted. I challenge anyone to come up with a worse way of handling this. It would have cost the same to do it the right way instead of whatever this is. Bravo.

It's too bad, the food is generally quite good. I just can't stomach this level of disrespect for my years of loyalty and business at...

Oh. My. Goodness. This was an absolutely amazing experience! A friend invited us to have dinner here on a Saturday night. We had heard great things about Chalet India but man oh man we had no idea what we were signing up for!

The restaurant was packed but not uncomfortable. Plenty of room and the noise level was not a problem at all. The service staff was very nice and helpful.

I ordered the Dum Aloo Chutney Wala - a vegetarian dish with potatoes and cottage cheese with an onion-tomato sauce. Wow- was I blown away! The stuffed potatoes were tender, cooked to perfection, and doused in sauce. The sauce was extremely flavorful with the slightest bit of heat. A hint of mango chutney and mint gave the entire dish a dash of lightness and sweetness. Oh, and the garlic naan - divine!!

While you do have to order rice/naan/veggies etc on the side, the portions of the main dishes and the sides are large (for Swiss standards) and definitely fill you up.

Atmosphere 5 ⭐️ Service 5 ⭐️ Flavor 5 ⭐️ Price 4 ⭐️ (reasonable for Swiss standards)

I will DEFINITELY (!!) be back with out-of-towners, for date night, or maybe even for...

It was a bit crowded when I arrived and I knew it was gonna busy for the servers, but I waited. I asked for a masala chai for my drinks aside from water, and they served my tea along with my meal. It was supposed to be served first as I knew the meal will take a while. And the tea was not so good and as shown on the photo, the tea wasn't strained properly. Paneer tikka masala was out of the menu but they managed to cook it and it was good! It was the the flavor I was looking for. The staff should be more attentive to their customers and ask how the food was or something.

Recently visited again: still as food as ever!! Situated in Horgen right opposite the railway station. The restaurant is in a very old Chalet style building and (still) has a bit of a lake view from some of the windows. Excellent authentic Indian food; how can it be anything else with the place rund and owned by authentic Indians?? The food really is excellent. The place tends to get crowded during weeeknds and reservations a must. One gets the impression that tables are sometimes a little too close to each other but that doesnt spoil the fun and satisfaction.

We really enjoyed the meal — everything was beautifully presented and flavorful. The papad with chutneys and onion bhajis were a great start. The prawn curry was the standout: rich, perfectly spiced, and absolutely delicious. The daal and naan were also top-notch, and the tandoori chicken was juicy with a nice char. The only dish I didn’t love was the lamb rogan josh — it just wasn’t to my taste and felt a bit underwhelming compared to the rest. Overall, a great experience and would definitely come back — just skipping the lamb next time.
