Ristorante Olivo — Restaurant in Horgen

S-L-O-W service! I want this restaurant to make it. It’s beautifully decorated and is a welcome addition to the Horgen restaurant scene. I dined with 2 other people in my party. It was a busy Sunday night and the place was buzzing with energy. There was a piano player signing in the main room.

All of this is wonderful and the atmosphere was good. There seemed to be enough staff on hand but I was wrong. We were promptly seated and given menus only to wait to order for 20 minutes. The host took our order because the waiter disappeared. This was common all evening long. Our salads took another 40 minutes to arrive and now I’m up to my 3rd beer. The waiter who seemed so rushed and disappeared often didn’t ask if I needed something else to drink when he took away my empty glasses. That’s a basic waiter mistake.

Dinner arrived 1:30 minutes after we were seated and now we’re hungry. Others would receive part of their order and 1 or 2 at the table would have to wait for their meal another 10 minutes. Crazy!

Please fix your service problems or this restaurant will fail. And I hope it doesn’t but you need to seriously train the wait staff MUCH better or this place will...

We visited Ristorante Olivo while passing through Horgen on vacation. Upon entering, the restaurant was virtually empty. We were asked if we had reservations. After answering no in English, it was obvious we were not welcome there. We were eventually sat and began looking over the menus. The waiter, perhaps the rudest server we've ever experienced, was a Mediterrean looking man that approached within 2 minutes of being sat to ask if we ready to order. We were not. Sixty seconds later, he returned to stand 5 feet from our table, pad in hand, and stare us down as we continued reading the menu. Feeling pressured, we ordered drinks and food. We received our drinks from another waiter. Once the food arrived, my wife and I agreed it was average at best for Italian food. At no point were we ever asked by any server if the food was to our liking or if we wanted refills on water or wine. After finishing, we sat for an eternity waiting for our waiter to bring our check. Upon being flagged down, he brought the check, ran our card, and walked off without speaking a word to either my wife or I. Avoid this restaurant in Horgen due to its extremely poor service and...

We went to this place for dinner after a day hike at the wild park. The servers were friendly and they seated us immediately. We had a bruschetta for starter and two pizzas. The drinks were served immediately and the time between starter and entrees were also good. The bruschetta was plated nicely but the tomatoes lack flavor, and could used more salt on the dish. The balance between olive oil and vinegar were also a bit off, there were too much olive oil that made the bread a bit soggy. The pizza came with a nice wooden board so it was very nicely presented. My Quattro Stagioni pizza was tasty, the combination of the artichoke and mushroom really brought out the flavor of the dish. I felt the dough could be rolled out a bit thinner and the oven at higher heat so it can get a better crunchier texture to compliment the toppings on top. At the end of the meal they gave us complimentary limoncello which was great. Overall, I enjoyed the dinner despite some flaws...
