Haddock Hafenbeiz Brunnen — Restaurant in Ingenbohl

We almost missed this, having first focused on places with more and higher reviews, but I cannot imagine a better place for dinner or a substantial lunch. The cook's way with herbs and other flavorings is outstanding - an aioli soup, a light minestrone sparked with tarragon, a pinsa (flatbread) with mozzarella, tomato, and sparkling roasted veg, and for me the amazing fischchügeli pastetli - tasty fishballs in delicate puff paste cups with a light cream sauce...PLEASE try them. The service was terrific and readily multilingual (German, English, French and Italian all in play). The menu is quite pescatarian friendly - risotto with calamari, a "fischpott" of haddock, potatoes, parsley and white wine, fish n chips, a flatbread with trout, red onions and dill, but chicken and meat alternatives as well. Came in for a bite to eat (lunch) +Decor, love the wallpaper, dark wood & coastal theme +Fish'n'chips portion for lunch was just right &tasted very good (almost like home,Scotland) not sure what's going on with the staff. I wanted to pull Obelix aside and do a wooozaaa exercise. His running around, hectic demeanour was not a good look! The new guy was doing his best, not sure how new he was. Had a great lunch here. Not sure why the reviews for this place is so mediocre - it almost put us off going. But I was craving a good (haddock) fish & chips like in the UK and decided to give it a go. My fish and chips were delicious, the haddock fish dish of the day was great and a good kids menu too.
