Don’t bother to visit without a reservation, they will turn away walk-ins. This is real advice because they made it clear to me that it’s not just unwelcome, but, despised. I did not have a chance to try the food for the above reason.
I understand servers will get frustrated because of running into tourists that are unaware how busy the restaurant might get. But, this is also part of the job and doesn’t excuse the waitress’ bad behavior. I also find it hard to believe the restaurant being fully booked from 8 to 11pm (and 3 hour window) with absolutely no opportunities to be put on a waitlist.
Her face and actions had the internal dialog on full display upon a brief interaction when questioned on reservations, with a metaphorical unwelcoming eye roll, dismissive attitude, and abrupt about face following the words “we’re full”. It was clearly communicated “I don’t have time to speak to you since tonight you are not my customer and I don’t care if you don’t come back tomorrow” body language. So at the very least, I can comment that this restaurant is not indicative of 5 star service.
I cannot speak for other servers and have good faith that my experience will not be reflective of everybody’s. But, based off this incident, I will...
Read moreI am surprised with the high ratings here and it was unfortunate that we did not have the kind of experience others had. I did not really enjoy the food we had when we came and visited this restaurant in October 2025.
The vegetable curry was mediocre. The mixed vegetable tasted like it either came out of a can or was a frozen vegetable. Then they poured a curry sauce on it. It was a joke. For some restaurant that claims they’re an authentic Swiss restaurant, it is not.
Their sausage and mixed vegetables are also another dish that didn’t leave us impressed. Again, the mixed vegetable tasted bland and all that gave it taste is when you garnish it with salt and pepper. It’s like what they did was warm up the frozen vegetables and serve it and then it’s up to you to make it flavourful.
Paying for a steep meal shouldn’t be like this. The dishes are not as to the standards compared to other Swiss restaurants we tried. The staff are also incredibly rude to other people, not to us thankfully but we’ve seen them acting like they’re irritated with other people.
If you’re acting like you’re tired and don’t want to serve and work at your restaurant, please shut down instead of passing on all your unpleasantness...
Read moreNot a fancy place and not benifitting from the stunning view, but if you are staying in Mürren for a few days and want a really good meal in a no nonsense place, this is a perfect choice. We popped in mid afternoon on Dec 26 asking to make a reservation, and even though they were fully booked, the server on shift asked if we would be okay sitting in the front section of the restaurant that is very small and not much for decor, but we really wanted fondue for a simple dinner. The same server was our server for dinner. She was very honest with us about portions and convinced us to choose smaller and fewer portions than we thought we should do, and she was absolutely right - we all had the perfect amount. We really appreciated her honesty. Sitting in the front, we realized that this restaurant is popular with locals and regulars, which made it kind of fun to be in the front section with the "in" crowd.
The fondue was super boozey and rich - we all loved it! We all also really enjoyed the wine our server recommended. And the dessert!! We didn't get her name, but she was a really...
