La Villa — Restaurant in Montreux

Fantastic hotel and beautiful location but the check in and breakfast service completely spoilt the experience for me! On check in we were quickly shown to our room (22) only to be told 10 mins later we were given wrong room and had to change. We were kept waiting on the 2nd floor stairs and asked to produce passport or Id there and then and that there was an error with our booking. We went back down stairs to be given room 21 (next door and actually a nicer corner room with gr8 view) with no explanation or apology. A welcome drink was offered in the lovely bar and the coffee and service were excellent. We had an evening engagement in Aigle so did not try the restuarant. Breakfast was included and we were seated around 0930 (served till 10am). There were about 5 tables total being served. We loved the served breakfast concept (over a buffet) and the quality was excellent. The waiter was nice but the service was a shambles! Took close to 10 mins before we were asked for our coffee order / a plate with 2 pieces of fruit and ONE (?) yoghurt arrived with meat and cheese and only 2 small pieces of bread. It took 15 min for more bread and jam to come (I wanted it with meats) and even longer for boiled eggs. 2 glasses on table but no water or juice was offered - we had to ask. We went to the restaurant only. Our meal took 3.5 hours. From the begging, the restaurant manager was not friendly in the way he stopped our car from approaching closer to the restaurant. The driver was just trying to drop us off. After settling on our table, it took 15 minutes to ask for water, we had to ask for everything, sometimes twice, (menu, need to order, drinks) then we waited and waited, it took an hour from the time we sat to get our 1st course. It took them 10 minutes to pickup our empty dishes. Main course took another hour. By the time we finished main course and they picked up dishes it was 3 hours of sitting there. Dessert took 30 minutes. The food was excellent BUT serve was terrible, never once the waiter came to check on us. The manager was annoyed by us for asking for forks (we ordered spaghetti and the only utensils they brought was spoon and very sharp knife) needless to say.
