Food was excellent. The servers and staff did a fantastic job navigating an expected rain and windstorm that forced everyone to move inside mid meal. We arrived at the indoor portion to check in, but were told the dining was on the terrace that night. This was despite the clearly approaching thunderstorm. We debated leaving and finding somewhere else to go, but decided to try it out—after all, we are not locals and the manager seemed confident it would be okay.
After a few minutes, the rain started and they closed the terrace covers. For awhile it was a nice experience. Then the wind came. It blew open the roof covers, blew apart some of the umbrellas and whipped up the waves to the point of soaking half our table. At that point, everyone was all but running inside. Tables, chairs and the dinner service followed inside in a slightly chaotic fashion. The servers and staff did a great job. They managed moving everything, they continued to deliver food and cocktails from the terrace bar across the street (partially lost to the wind). They were kind, polite and professional.
We finished dinner, a good bit later than expected, but with a memorable experience. Unfortunately, it could have all been made much better and safer had the management made the responsible decision to have dinner...
Read moreWhat a big disappointment... It was our 2nd visit, 1st one made us love it so we came back with new friends... unfortunately not getting the same feeling at all! Welcome very average, waitress not friendly or smiling (and smelling strongly of cigarette smell). Cocktails pretty expensive for the quality (my Lychee Martini was not event cold), Mistakes on the menu (Tasting menu saying starter 1 and starter 2, but it came out only one was included in the price) Food was average, not much taste or spice. Tempura shrimps were good though! The Tuna in the Ceviche was very good but the sauce was plain. I ordered chili at the side (which they ended up charging for!!) Meet was overcooked compared to ordered choice. Nobody from the staff even came to us to ask if we liked our food, not even when removing the plates... Matcha chocolate Fondant as dessert was so strong in Matcha nobody could eat it... a pity. We paid approx CHF 100.- per person (didn't even order wine) for a disappointing and not very nice guest experience. Before we left, we heard our unpleasant waitress argue with another table nearby... Too bad really, we loved it the first time (8 months ago)... We will definitely not go back despite the lovely decoration (and amazing terrasse...
Read moreOverpriced, unimaginative tastes, portion sizes barely adequate by European standards and quite forgettable. Friendly staff but let down by food offering. California rolls and maki not up to high standard of preparation, barely stayed together while eating, taste ok at best. Salty as to be (unfortunately) expected in many fusion restaurants. Prices aligned with local market, but not an address that we we will be returning to. Meals in Switzerland are extremely expensive often regardless of quality...our advice is to simply spend twice as much elsewhere to at least appreciate it regardless of cost. Not into leaving negative reviews but really disappointed as we knew this restaurant for years before the name change and usually comes highly recommended. Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen, but once is enough. Lastly, our opinion is that it's not accurate for this establishment to market itself as a "Japanese" restaurant (per Google) regardless of ownership heritage if nothing about the food preparation, sauces, ambiance and overall tastes resemble Japanese cuisine in a traditional or fusion sense. Please do better as we would sincerely love to have a top-tier Japanese or fusion restaurant...
