When I first realized we were getting there in the dark, so would not be able to appreciate the location and the view, I started to second-guess the choice to head to Montreux from Lausanne. BUT. As soon as we got there, the pretty room and the vibe it offered -- even empty, as it had just opened at 1900 -- were just right. Our waitress was warm and adorable, and as she explained the menu, we got so excited about what we were going to order. The food was delicious. We had each of the four entrees -- every one was delicious, beautifully presented, and unique. Both the pumpkin soup and the mushroom cappuccino were light and airy, yet full of flavor. For plats, we had two fish -- absolutely delicious! -- one "bad hunter's plate", as she described the meatless presentation, and one bowl of gnocchi with mushrooms. Everything was divine. We were too stuffed for dessert, sadly.

As absolutely delicious as the food was, as inviting the room, and as pretty the view would have been in the daylight, the restaurant staff and our waitress made the evening. Her delight in explaining each item, her warm smile, and her perfect descriptions of the food made the evening one we will long remember.
