It's been just one year now that this restaurant is there. Very well located, in the center of the pedestrian zone, it catches the eye, even for the locals. Because of the location, some locals could think it's "middle range", but let me tell you it's definitely not. It's a very good surprise.
It's been now quite a few times I've been there, and it's time to say how amazed and impressed i am by this place.
The owner is incredibly kind and professional. It doesnt take more than a couple seconds to feel at home there, as he really behaves with a lot of kindness. He is always happy to discuss, and listens, it's always a pleasure. He is interested in making you feel good.
So far I only tasted the Daily Menu, but at several occasions. It's an absolute HIT in Neuchâtel. For the price you have a very well prepared and original plate. A meat in sauce, a side vegetable or potatoe with curry, and a couple other side treats.. It's always a pleasure to see such a variety :) And just as you start to eat, the owner brings the Naan bread. They are simply the best I've ever had (but i've never been to India). So soft and tasty. Feels like they melt in your mouth.
I'm looking forward to going there to eat A La Carte. Seems like the Chef has a few specialties. This place is an...
Read moreAs a native indian, this is an abomination in the face of Indian cuisine. Do not eat here if you want anything close to authentic Indian food.
We got the madras chicken, sabji korma, fish tikka and zeera rice. It was all sub par and it honestly terrible. The fish tikka was barely spiced and soggy. The zeera rice has all the most burnt cumin I have ever seen. The madras chicken had no gravy, it felt like they stopped after making the masala and while it was spicy (we asked for Indian spicy level) it was not flavorful at all. The least you except from Indian spicy food is that the spice level blends well with the flavour of the dish and here they seemed to have just doused the food with chili ignoring any semblance of flavour at all!!! The worst of all was the korma. Not only did it not look or taste like korma, it was sugary sweet instead of authentically sweet due to cashews! The veggies they used are not standard to a vegetarian korma and the color and taste was totally wrong! The whole meal got off on a bad start with bad fish tikka and it only got worse.
Save yourself the trouble and disappointment, go to another Indian restaurant. Bad food here and worst of all, an insult to the...
Read moreShri Ganesh is an Indian restaurant run by Prince and helped by 3 chefs and Pravin. They are courteous and ensure to make you comfortable. Food is excellent and you get the dhaba taste. I have had vegetarian biryani which some of may scoff that there is nothing like vegetarian biryani , rather call it pulao! But let me mention that the vegetarian biryani has its unique taste and I loved it. I have had nan which are soft and delicious. The Paneer kadai had the masala tadka . Since I eat a bit spicy and if you want to add spice , ask for green chilli Chatni ! The Sabzi kurma is sweetish more like Navrathna Kurma of India. The interiors are Indian style and there is a TV which plays Hindu songs for visual impact , because on the loud speaker it is English songs. And that is because 95% of his clients are Swiss. He has a good selection of liquor and few beers. Kingfisher is available which is popular with the Swiss. If you are visiting Neuchatel, Shri Ganesh is a must visit restaurant. CoVID precautions are being maintained and you need to show CoVID pass to get a table. He has a busy parcel counter too with many ordering...
