Glatthof — Restaurant in Opfikon

I’ve visited this restaurant and coffee shop a few times, mostly when I want a place to sit down, relax, and have a conversation with friends. It’s usually not very crowded, which I appreciate, and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

While the place offers both food and drinks, I personally come here mainly for the coffee and the terrace. I’ve eaten there once or twice, and the food was okay, nothing special — but not bad either.

What I like most is the option to sit outside on the terrace, but even that comes with a downside: the terrace is right in front of the street, so it can get quite noisy with traffic, and it's not the most peaceful place if you're sensitive to noise. Still, I prefer sitting outside because, for me, the indoor space doesn’t feel fresh — the air inside isn’t comfortable, and I don’t enjoy the atmosphere indoors as much.

So overall, while the place is quiet and friendly, and good for a quick coffee or a casual meetup, it has its limitations — street noise outside, and an indoor area that doesn’t feel very fresh or cozy. It’s a nice spot if you’re nearby, but not somewhere I’d go out of my way to...

As a tourist, went here for fondue on recommendations. Personally, was disappointed,maybe others would have had better experience. For me it was as

Timing says open whole day (10 am till 5 am ) . So, went just around 4 pm , there was only one wait staff .

No menu offered . We asked for fondue without alcohol and it was served to us.

However, the lamp below it did not light properly and the fondue slowly turned to globs. Later on asking, a new lamp was put below the pot but no fondue replacement...quite ok... not sure if fondue is meant to be so salty.

We were not offered any potates , just bread .

Utlimately, for a first time experience, it was disappointing to say the least .

Prices ok for Zurich levels. For tourists, better to...

I loved the kindness and welcome attitude of the owner. I arrived quite late as my flight landed in the evening. Hotel had already closed the restaurant and I looke for another still open. The owner, even if it was late, he still prepared my dinner and he was at table with me in the garden part of restaurant. It was a very nice evening. I was quite tired from my flight but the good food and the nice conversation with the owner made my evening in Zurig great. THANK YOU....
