⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Coffee Break That Feels Like First Class!**
Whenever I’m cycling through Zürich Airport, my coffee stop at Runway 34 is an absolute highlight—always more than just a pit‑stop; it’s an experience. Nestled right by Zurich Airport, this isn’t just another terrace—it’s your front-row seat to runway action, with planes taking off and landing mere meters away. Sitting on a summer afternoon, coffee in hand, watching jets while the warm sun bathes the hangar… truly unbeatable.
The setting? Absolutely iconic. Walk into the main Hangar and you’re greeted by a real Ilyushin‑14 aircraft—seated around her like a crew, feeling the thrill of flight. The flight‑attendant‑style staff, dressed with aviation panache, don’t just serve—they host with passion and charisma, evoking that travel‑enthusiasm that’s at the heart of the concept . It’s almost theatrical, but genuine and heartfelt.
Service is next‑level. They’re consistently professional and warm—fluent, attentive, quick with a smile or conversation, and always ready for coffee, sparkling water, or a chat about your ride or next flight. I'm cycling often, and their energy after a long way is just what I need!
Bottom line? Runway 34 isn’t just a café or a restaurant—it’s a lifestyle moment. For me, cycling by and pausing there is a ritual; it's a moment of calm, sophistication, and delight—surrounded by runway thrills, terrace vibes, and an entire crew that genuinely cares. Five stars indeed!

Read moreThe restaurant itself is very nicely done and a great place for children. You can see the large aircraft taking off from your table. We celebrated our 10 year old’s birthday and he was really happy. The quality of the food was excellent as well and that applies to all three courses. The staff were also friendly.
However, the value for money and the general attention to detail left a lot to be desired. We booked a birthday package for CHF 35 and that was simply an aero plane balloon and a ribbon. There was not even a small cake or anything complementary for my 10 year old. They had the table for only two people (instead of four) and had a card wishing happy birthday to me (instead of my 10 year old son). Honestly, CHF 35 for a balloon and a ribbon is outrageous while getting every possible detail wrong. In addition, we had to wait for our starters for 45 minutes as there was a mix up in the kitchen. They apologised and gave the two coffees for free but one expects the little details to be taken care of always. At the end, we (and few other guests) had to wait for 10 minutes at the front counter to pay the bill for some unknown reason with no apology whatsoever.
I would still recommend the restaurant for the location and the experience but there are a lot of things that need to...
Read moreFabulous location, at the end of the runway used by departing long-haul flights. It's an old hangar with planes and aircraft parts all around the place. Wonderful concept, brilliantly put together. The kids' play area outside is an excellent addition. However, the concept is pushed too far - the staff at the door write you out a ticket for your destination table, but then when we asked for a different table, she was flustered and had to rewrite the ticket. Then the menu is all manner of confusing, but there is some great stuff on there - crickets and kangaroo, for example. At the end, you can't get a bill but have to check out at the exit. I just think a restaurant in a hangar, sitting in airline seats, being served by waiting staff in airline uniform - that's perfect as a concept. The whole checking in, checking out, issuing of tickets etc just complicated and confused the experience. The other bugbear was the astronomical price - we had a child's portion of pasta, a side salad, 3 crickets on a plate and 3 dim sum. Add in a coke and mineral water and our bill came to...
