This is the best restaurant I have eaten in Switzerland in 6 years that I live in the country. The service was incredibly nice, we even had some time at the end of our dinner to have a chat about the region, language and culture that was super instructive. Back to the food. We started with 2 incredible soups of mushrooms and pear with blue cheese. Both where unique on their own, and I really would not know which one to pick next time. The creative point was done with a reinterpretation of a vitello tonnato, that they did with a base sauce of vitello tonnato together with a beef tartar and tuna sashimi, that was very funny. Grilled meat is the speciality of the house, we tried the deer, the wild board and the chateaubriand. All of them were super tender and cooked to the perfection with very nice side dishes. The polenta was great and the potato gratin too. They also had a great selection of wines. We specifically took a red Bierzo "Villa de Corullón" that was delicious. Overall a great experience that I would recommend to anyone...
Read moreAs a Belgian, I might be biased here. We are used to absolute excellent food at decent prices, even in the post pandemic era. We're also used to having an absolutely minimal salad included in the price, when you're paying what meat goes for in this country. But ok, when you're abroad, you adjust to the local realities.
I cannot complain about the quality of the meat. The lamb was cooked exactly as it should be. However, the sauce (in my case a Bearnaise) was an absolute disgrace, both in lack of quality and quantity. The sauce had shifted, and completely lacked any flavor at all. If you are a restaurant that prides itself on its grill, this is a stain on your professional honor. Proper seasoning and sauce are an amplifier for the quality of your meat. I ended up eating most of it without. A shame.
To end this still on somewhat of a positive note: at least the staff serving us was friendly, and the homemade ice tea can be very much...
