Hotel Engadinerhof — Hotel in Pontresina

This review is for the restaurant. Food was nice but we will definitely not come back again. We came for lunch a couple of days ago and our bill was 77CHF, we gave the waiter 107CHF expecting change, but the waiter thanked us for the money and walked away swiftly without giving us any money back and before any of us could react. We would have been happy to tip the restaurant for the nice food, but tipping almost 40% of our bill was not what we intended. This was not an isolated incident as our friends went there the same evening and said that the waiter appeared angry at them when they gave him the exact amount for their food, and then demanded a tip. The waiter is paid a fair wage and any tips earned should be a bonus and not forced or cheated out of people. There are many other lovely places to eat in Pontresina. My family and friends will not be going to Hotel Engadinerhof again. Others intending to eat at this restaurant should be aware of waiters trying to cheat them of...

Spacious, clean and fantastically attentive owner Bertram! The interior sitting area, library and bar was so graciously preserved it was always inviting to linger and embrace this beautiful setting. We had a wonderful large room with full nostalgic-bath tub. Complimentary pick up to/from the train station by staff. Dining experience via half-pension is gastronomic! All dishes were artistically presented and used freshest market and/or garden ingredients. Breakfast buffet was the richest we had encountered with 18 varieties of jam, abundant local cheeses, fresh fruits, eggs, yoghurts, muesli and at least half a dozen cereals, all sorts of breads all attractively presented. The meals as half-pension dinners were creative and very well executed and the wine selection was the best value and most modest in our entire three weeks in...

Mehrere Preisklassen mit unterschiedlicher Ausstattung (nur Zimmer mit Gemeinschaftsdusche/-WC, älter eingerichtete Zimmer, moderne etc.) die sehr preiswert erscheinen. Alle Gäste erhalten eine Das Abendessen im Speisesaal ist ok. Man kann sich entscheiden nicht dort zu essen und erhält dann 20 Chf abgezogen, ist also nicht gezwungen dort zu essen und hat keinen Nachteil. Normalerweise kann aus 2 Menüs ausgewählt werden, für das man sich am Vortag entscheiden muss. Beide enthalten Fleisch. Ich habe vorher angefragt, ob es vegetarische Angebote gibt und habe dann eine extra Veggiekarte erhalten (von der dann aber nur ich auswählen durfte) mit etwa 6 Speisen, für eine Woche ist das noch ok. Mittwochs ist jeweils ein grosses Buffet, leider ist fast alles mit Fleisch. Vorspeise gab es gar nichts ohne Fleisch ausser Salat. Morgens gibt es jeweils ein Buffen mit verschiedenen Konfitüren, Broten und Müesli und Käse und Fleisch. Die hoteleigene Pizzeria ist super.

Jeder Gast erhält eine ÖV Karte die einen Riesenbereich abdeckt und bei allen Bussen und Zügen in dem Bereich gilt und bei allen Bergbahnen die wir in den etwa 7 Aufenthalten benutzt haben (gibt glaub einige wenige, die nicht dabei sind). Ansonsten wären die Bergbahnen wahnsinnig teuer. Dadurch ist der Engadinerhof vermutlich das preislich beste Hotel in ganz Pontresina.

Das Hotel ist schön eingerichtet und hat das schönste WC im Eingangsbereich, dass ich je gesehen/besucht habe. Der Hotelbesitzer ist den Gästen sehr nahe und redet auch mit ihnen.
