An enjoyable one night stay just before Christmas, with the old centre of Stans atmospheric in the snow. The stylish minimalism of the (last few years?) conversion of this former monastery is impressive, but comfort hasn't been high on the agenda, with just a hard folding chair and a stool in the, admittedly spacious, bedroom. The owners recognise that sound-proofing of the bedrooms is poor - earplugs are provided, but fortunately our neighbours were pretty quiet. The restaurant serves excellent, innovative small-plate dishes, most locally sourced; by Swiss standards the CHF72 a head 'tavolata' menu price if pretty good value for the 12 or so dishes tha follow one after another. Read moreIt's not hard to fall in love with this place. The former monastery is now home to those who like stylish and minimalist design, where colours and interiors harmonize with the building's history. Culinarum Alpinum is beautifully situated on a hill with amazing views of the Alps and surrounded by tranquility. You will have a good nights sleep in their comfortable beds with luxuary linen sheets. All food served is delicious with rich tastes and everything served is locally produced and carefully selected, their menu following the seasons. I can highly recommend their tasting menu. Not to forget to mention their nice and service minded staff. All in all, Culinarum Alpinum is a place...
