Krone Altstetten — Restaurant in Zurich

I spent a most enjoyable evening there with my son. Excellent food with seasonal fresh and varied ingredients. We enjoyed some intense and original flavours. My first course was a marinated zander with beetroot and black walnut and house made cream cheese. An excellent start. I loved the fish and I adored the rich and dark flavours and textures of the beetroot and the black nut. The slightly sour freshness of cream cheese contrasted the the beetroot and black walnut in a lovely way and highlighted the various ingredients by doing so. My main course was a braised ossobucco with a potato strudel - both again comforting in its rich and velvety teamwork of dark and light colours, textures and flavours. I loved the slightly tart-and tangyness of the parsley root that set again an invigorating accent to the dark and comforting flavours as described above. The dessert a light mousse of chocolate and red cabbage in a shell that tasted like a linzertartelet (cinnamon, red currant, nuts etc.) was a surprise combination of flavours I have never had before. Again it was the teamwork of all the ingredients that made it so special. Beside - the Prosecco they served was outstanding and the selection of wines on the card was small but very good. Last but not least: All that bliss in a beautiful house and served by a congenial hosting...

Great experience at this restaurant. We booked a table for the birthday of my wife, and we had an amazing dinner. The food was certainly delicious, the waiters were also very diligent and always willing to help, and since I put in the reservation that it was a special day, they assigned us a very good table next to the window and they even surprised us with a happy birthday song when they brought the desserts to us. This last detail was incredible, as we didn't expect it at all!

Lovely atmosphere and classic and cozy furniture that made us feel the Swiss cuisine in the best possible way. Such attention to detail is what makes a difference nowadays, and we certainly can only recommend this restaurant to everyone who wants to enjoy really good food, a lovely ambience and, last but not least, a fair price for everything. Ich weiss garnicht, wo ich anfangen soll... beginnen wir mit dem sozialen Aspekt. 5 Sterne, dass es sich um einen Integrationsbetrieb handelt, welcher benachteiligten Menschen unterstützt (wieder) im Arbeitsalltag Fuss zu fassen. Tolle Sache, ein Chapeau dafür!!

Service war super, das Ambiente eine Mischung aus gut bürgerlich und dennoch etwas gehoben, aber gemütlich.

Highlight des Abends war allerdings der Perfektionismus des Küchenchefs. Dass hier meiner Meinung nach alles frisch zubereitet wird, merkt man nicht nur am Geschmack, sondern auch an der Dauer der Zubereitung der Speisen... für mich definitiv ein Qualitätsmerkmal.

Ich hatte Rindsbäggli bestellt, nach etwa 20 Minuten, kam dann wahrscheinlich der Restaurantleiter, mit einer Nachricht aus der Küche, dass leider die Rindsbäggli nicht zart genug zubereitet werden können und der Küchenchef keinesfalls eine solche Qualität rausgeben möchte und ob ich nicht lieber ein anderes Gericht bestellen möchte.

Nörgler würden an dieser Stelle rumjammern und sich aufregen.. ich hingegen muss sagen, das ist der beste Service, der mir je passiert ist und ich war schon oft und auch hochwertig essen. Woanders hätte man es vermutlich drauf ankommen lassen... aber hier wird mit Liebe und Herz gekocht, dass kein mittelmässiges Essen rausgeht.

Respekt und Danke hierfür an die Professionalität und Perfektion des Kochs... da warte ich gerne noch weiter 15 bis 20 Minuten, aber habe dann auch ein perfektes Rinderfilet erhalten.

Ich bin selbst aus der Branche und sowas habe ich leider noch nie erlebt... nochmals Danke für die Ehrlichkeit. Ich ziehe echt meinen Hut.

Fazit: Tolles Ambiente, soziales Engagement, toller Service und super leckeres Essen von Profis mit Herz und Seele zubereitet.

Grandios!! Komme sicher wieder und werde es ganz sicher nicht nur Freunden, sondern auch unseren Hotelgästen empfehlen.
