Nihao — Restaurant in Zurich

We went to try the lunch buffet. We arrived at 11.30 when the number of diners were no more than 10, and were met with the standard no-frills service that one receives in a standard restaurant in China or Hong Kong. We assumed that this was the same in all Chinese restaurants across the globe so thought nothing of it. We were initially offered a place outside but we asked for indoor seating to avoid the smoking patrons. As more and more diners arrived, we slowly realized that everyone else received warm and friendly welcomes, quite unlike that which we experienced. It was also assumed that we would take the lunch buffet because we were not even asked for our lunch order.

The quality and quantity of food on offer in the lunch buffet was fautless. Unless every diner took the same option, each container was kept stocked up at a very quick pace. The only options for which we had to wait were the tiramisu and passion fruit. So for the lunch buffet, we would rate the offering a firm 10/10. Which is a pity when we consider the distinctly unfriendly service that was directed at us. We took note of how other guests were treated and it was very obvious that we were not made to feel welcome for whatever reason. We noticed that empty plates were cleared promptly from every table other than our own. Our's were taken away when we got up to get our next serving. It was almost like the waitresses were deliberately avoiding any form of contact with us. When my wife requested a refill for her tea, the waitress turned her head with a glare on her face and just took the teapot without a word. The other waitress, who wore glasses, was not much friendlier. We deliberately asked her for the check and we received the same, unfriendly response. She even delegated the task to her unfriendly colleague in a very rude manner. It seems that (as far as these 2 waitresses are concerned), the normal/friendly service is reserved for categories of customers into which we clearly do not fit... my wife even received friendlier stares from the kitchen staff... clearly, we are not welcome here and neither would we feel comfortable...

Nihao First class staff and food. I tried buffet with a few vegan options (sushi with mango/mango and avocado/tofu/avocado), one of it was exceptional with coconut, mango and avocado. Also there was plenty of veggies (cucumbers, salat, broccoli, maybe also something I did not notice). When lovely lady from staff found out I am vegan, I was offered extra tofu with veggies and rice with veggies, just for me. My heart just melted ❤️ There were also fruits, mango, ananas, melon, grapes,all fresh and very nice. For non vegan also tiramisu which I heard is very good also.

Price was ok for the amount and quality of food and service. Better reserve a table, because place was fool and I was lucky to have one spare table for 1.5 hour. Btw it was enough to eat without a rush.

There is a variety of wines, some asian beers, alco and non alco drinks and stronger alcohols.

I felt very good in this place and I can strongly recommend it.

Tolles asiatisches restaurant. Schön und modern eingerichtet mit grossem, überdachtem Aussenbereich und einigen Parkplätzen direkt vor dem Haus. Das à la carte Angebot ist super, jedoch stellt das reichhaltige und hochqualitative Buffet die Hauptattraktion dar. Grosse Auswahl an sehr schmackhaften chinesischen Gerichten - kalt sowie auch warm - und zusätzlich ein super Angebot an Sushikreationen mit dem qualitativ hochwertigsten Fisch, den es in einem weiten Umkreis zu diesen äusserst vernünftigen Preisen gibt (Buffet à discrecion (eat all you want) bereits für ca. Fr. 30.- ! Sushi- und Dessert-buffet im Preis inbegriffen!!). Sushi kann in der Schweiz schnell ziemlich teuer werden, wenn man keine Abstriche bei der Qualität machen und so viel essen will, bis man satt ist. Das Nihao bietet eine grossartige Gelegenheit, sich zu sehr bezahlbaren Konditionen (eben ca. Fr. 30.-) mit den besten Sushikreationen in dieser Preisklasse weit und breit zu verwöhnen und dabei auch noch ohne Rücksicht auf die Menge nehmen zu müssen - man kann sich getrost so viel gönnen, wie man will (oder kann 😜)! Das Sushiangebot konzentriert sich auf Nigiris mit Lachs, Thon, Aal, Tintenfisch, Scampi, Surimi, Tamago etc., sowie auf eine breite Auswahl an Makis und Uramakis, die für jeden Geschmack etwas bereithält. Leider keine Sashimis im Buffet-Angebot, was zu diesem Preis jedoch völlig verständlich ist - die Fischqualität des für die Nigiris verwendeten Fischs ist allerdings durchaus auf Sashiminiveau (besonder der Lachs), was das Fehlen eines Sashimi-Angebots mehr als nur rechtfertigt! Als Desserts werden Tiramisous, verschiedene Eissorten und Früchte angeboten, sowie das Highlight des Dessertbuffets: Ein richtiger Schokobrunnen 😀👍🏻! Man schnappt sich einfach einige Fruchtstücke und kann ihnen beim Schokobrunnen eine tolle Schokoglasur verpassen bevor man sie genüsslich verputzt 😊👍🏻! Das Personal ist freundlich und schnell, die WCs sauber und der Standort auch per ÖV gut erreichbar (Tram zum Berninaplatz) und nicht allzu weit vom Bahnhof Örlikon entfernt. Wer also nicht gerade das Budget für einen Besuch beim Sala of Tokyo auf der seite liegen hat und nicht nach Deutschland reisen will, um sich hochqualitative und reichhaltige aber auch bezahlbare Sushikreationen zu gönnen, dem sei das Nihao wärmstens empfohlen! Besonders auch wegen des tollen Angebots der weiteren, warmen asiatischen Spezialitäten. Kurzum: Mit ABSTAND das beste asiatische Buffet à discretion in der gesamten Region sowohl von der Qualität, der Auswahl, sowie auch des Preises her! Guten Appetit...
