My farewell party at Narenj Restaurant in Damascus turned out to be a deeply disappointing and regrettable experience. The bad customer service, delayed orders, and even the simplest requests taking an absurdly long time were just the beginning of the series of mishaps that unfolded that evening. As I invited my family over for this important occasion, hoping to create lasting memories before my departure, Narenj Restaurant managed to tarnish the entire event. The lack of attention and care shown by the staff made me feel like an afterthought, and their failure to address our basic needs only added to the frustration. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance felt cold and unwelcoming, setting the tone for what would be an unfortunate evening. The delayed orders left us waiting for what seemed like an eternity, and even a simple request for utensils took an unacceptable 30 minutes to be fulfilled. Despite raising our concerns with the manager, the resolution offered was far from satisfactory, leaving us feeling unheard and undervalued as customers. It was evident that Narenj lacked the willingness to make amends or improve the situation, further compounding our disappointment. The farewell party, which should have been filled with joy and warmth, was overshadowed by the restaurant's incompetence and disregard for their customers' experience. This was a significant moment for me and my family, and Narenj's inability to meet even the most basic expectations made it a night I would rather forget. I strongly caution others against choosing Narenj Restaurant for any important occasions or even regular dining. Their lack of professionalism, coupled with the unfulfilling overall experience, makes them a poor choice for anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience in Damascus. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere for a restaurant that values its customers and takes pride in providing quality service.

A restaurant with a traditional setting and some traditional food, yes please! We had a lovely meal at Naranj, tasting a few of the local dishes which we enjoyed. The food was presented nicely and there was a variety to choose from! Our only issue was that most dishes were a little under seasoned, which you don’t expect from a restaurant this nice. Nevertheless, everyone enjoyed their meal and the complementary dessert too (wish it came with tea). It was definitely one of the nicer restaurants we ate at in Damascus!

For the price, I didn’t like the ambiance, food nor service too much. Especially annoying is the fact that every time you try to go to the toilet one of the cleaning ladies literally runs after you through the door to be waiting for you next to the sinks (and next to your toilet door). I definitely didn’t like having people waiting right in front of my door for me to relieve myself. I honestly had better food for much less at the food stalls at the market nearby.
