Beautiful, eclectically decorated airy space, dotted with art pieces. They serve light meals, coffee/tea, and alcoholic drinks. Perfect if you like Instagram-worthy joints and cocktails, but skip if you actually want good food.
First, there are entrances from both sides: both alleys have glass facades, but the northern alley also has 3-4 small outdoor tables (with ashtrays on them for smokers). Once inside, the space has a two-storey high ceiling, couch and plush seating grouped for parties of 2-5. Indirect sunlight streams in through the large windows, bathing the customers in gently in warmth. It’s a very comfortable place to hang out in the afternoon.
The food, from the orders we had, is another matter: I had the Parma-guacamole-egg open-faced sandwich, which came with a very small side salad, and a sauce dish of yogurt with one grape, one blueberry, and some corn flakes. A single slice of Parma ham laid across the guacamole, aside a sunny side up egg, atop a slice of toasted bread. But that dense slice of bread was absolutely impossible to cut through with the serrated knife: even with my full strength, I couldn’t cut through it. In the end, I had to scrape the toppings off and eat it without the bread.
I also had a whiskey sour, which was fine, though the giant solid ice block—very pretty—meant the drink volume itself was rather low. (They originally served me the wrong drink, and retrieved it before I took a sip, then came back with the right one.)
I might return to Truffles Living for an afternoon drink, but won’t come...
Read moreThis is such a rare find. Lots of space, comfy chair and yummy food. The quiche had to be one of the most flavorful quiches I've had to date. It had bacon and onions and really was a delight to eat from beginning to end. Also the blueberry tart was a stand out dish. The tart had a layer of custard-y cream, blueberry bake and the crust was delish. The gentleman who made it also meticulously picked and placed each blueberry. It really was a pleasure to see so much thought being placed into the taste and presentation of the food. Would recommend to and probably...
