A local friend helped to book a table for 12 1 week in advance n later addon another table of 10, 2days notice. The lady boss was very accommodative by making arrangement to accept additional reservation.
NT1000 deposit per table is required, can use to offset the total bill but will be forefited if we didnt turn up or last min. cancel the tables.
Tables and seats are pretty small, they said big table can squeeze in 12 per table but 11 of us was already very squeezy, no place for bags, but owner gave us empty boxes to put our bags underneath the table.
Food portion is small, mostly is 1 size type, good for 8pax sharing if its 1pc per pax. I was amazed with the number of dishes we ordered.
We ordered 32 dishes for 11pax table (about NT506/pax)! 4 dishes repeated, 2 dishes had to take out as we cant eat any more. 椒盐虾 & stir-fry pork liver were good, i would suggest to order 2 plates for 11ppl. the rest can order 1 plate to try the taste if you want to try many different varieties. The dishes were served hot, they were cooked on the spot, not like those pre-cooked and just heat up type.
The restaurant was booked by another group, uni students. We are not a stinky tofu adventure, 1 of our friends wanted to try and asked the uni students if they can give her 1 pc to try, they were very generous to give her 1. The boss, uni students and us cheered and 打成一片. I felt so warm and welcoming.
If in SG, we will be told to lower our volumn as we...
Read moreI rated the atmosphere as 4 stars because this very traditional Taiwanese resto is not for everyone, especially foreigners. This restaurant is intended to be noisy with people drinking alcohol while playing rock-paper-scissors with the loser bottoming up a small glass of liquor. Loud, rowdy, and a lot of fun, this type of activity can be loosely translated as "happy noisy". Ordered food is served quickly and comes in small plates. In the course of a night, there would probably be 15-20 different types of food coming in one after the other. Table sizes are mostly larger round tables good for 8-12 people. Food tastes great but of course, we're not talking about gourmet stuff. Overall, if you want to feel what it's like to be with colleagues on a traditional or very local night out of food and drinks, bring some Taiwanese friends with you and watch & learn...

This humble little joint may not look like much from the outside, but it's a favorite neighborhood spot for locals craving the sizzling wok flavors of classic Taiwanese stir-fry dishes.
The flavors and textures are simply sublime - succulent meats, lightly charred veggies, perfectly scrambled eggs all enrobed in the addictive sauce coating each dish. A meal at this place is Taiwanese street food and comfort food at its finest. From the friendly staff to the buzzing local ambience, this is THE spot to experience stellar re-chao worth lining up for. (Beyond the incredible food, part of the charm is their two large live turtles mascots roaming the...
